I've always said more games should take notes on Prototype's movement. Not every game can do what it did, but the freedom makes it so fun to use and almost never frustrating (GOD FUCKING DAMNIT EZIO GET THE FUCK OFF THAT GODDAMNED BOLLARD!) I think the combos were fun to see but ultimately pointless. The normal infected die in two hits, the supersoldiers will defend and counter by the third hit, and the hunters will just go berserker and stop you before you can even start. Then the bosses simply can't be fought close range.

You're completely right. Most of the powers are useless once you get the blade but the bosses can just tank your entire health bar in a single hit. In my most recent playthrough, I only used the bitch-whip to take down powerful enemies from range, because yeah you can't attack them up front. It was an odd game and definitely had it's flaws. Nonetheless, still fun as hell :)
