How heavy was the VX after the build please and did the customer mention the size / weight of the van they planned on towing? Would be interested to know the final set up details. Any chance of getting the customer to jump onto YT and give a reply to my query? Am keen to hear if they downgraded van requirements for the weight upgrade on the towing vehicle. Magnificent build. Loved the electric side ramps and overall it looks like a beautiful quality build. We have our own 200 and have DRIFTA drawers and equivalent upgrades but just not quite as fancy with the electronics eg Lithium set up and electric side steps. Still, she's an absolute dream of a car and having moved up from our 80 series for van towing I would be hard pushed to recommend anything else. Only thing I reckon they're missing are "Rhino Hides" which I now swear by. They have saved my paint work tremendously having had two "buff and resprays" to the WHOLE of my side panels (both sides) before getting onto them. Nice work guys and thanks for sharing!

PaulnSans hey mate thanks for the comment! She was roughly sitting at 3.4T with one person in it .. full of fuel and water .. add 3 more people and food , gear in car and van ball weight you’ll be roughly 4.1T on the GVM. Obviously things can change from this .. but for their current setup and needs it works .. 2 kids in the back as well 👍 the van is a 22ft Avida .. ATM of 3.5T
@PaulMotu4 жыл бұрын
WOW 4.1T!? The STD GVM upgrade can only legally get a 200 to 3.8T. How did you manage 4.1T please? I wonder if the client is aware (not your issue to advise them this) that the GVM additional weight capacity comes off their van ATM! So now their van ATM is now circa 2.75T!!! Our ATM dropped from 3.5T to 3.05T and our van weight full of water, full fuel jerry cans, gene. plus our usual clothes and “stuff” was already at 3.0T so we literally had to plan our food pretty carefully. In the end we opted to carry less food up front and had to accept more regular food shops and to carry the alcohol in the car as we had spare weight capacity post the GVM upgrade. I recommend anyone planning GVM upgrades at least makes themselves fully aware of the various weight requirements AND CALCULATIONS now that most states including WA are now starting to crack down on them.
@ProTouringTV4 жыл бұрын
PaulnSans hey mate , this is a part of the federal SSM kit . It’s 4.2T GVM + 3.5T BTC , total of 7.7T rolling on the black top 👍 we replace the rear axle and other suspension components obviously.. it’s classed as a commercial vehicle as it’s above 4T .
@PaulMotu4 жыл бұрын
Super WOW to that then. Wish I had known that was a possibility Grrrr 😃. Excellent work by you guys then: Full credits to your quality of build from me then which isn’t easy to do as I’m a hard nut to crack, convince and satisfy! 🤓. Appreciate the new knowledge. Just took delivery of my VX on saturday and man oh man, have i just got some good ideas by watching this video! Great video and i must say great attention to detail. The Drifta systems speak for themselves, those teflon runners are an absolute marvel. I had mine in the Prado for almost 6 years and never had a single issue with them! Ive been doing some reading and research and seems like the new Lithium's available can also be used to replace the crank battery and be housed under the bonnet to operate at upto 85 degree celcius. Some with upto 250 amp sustained discharge rates which could be suited for winching also. Interested to know why the lithium battery wasnt put under the bonnet? Also do you guys happen to have any agents youd recommend in Sydney?? Great Video and thanks for sharing!
@ProTouringTV4 жыл бұрын
Patrick Honeine hey mate thanks for the comments. The VX is an unreal machine we love them .. as for the lithium’s - we still don’t recommend them for under bonnet. Any battery exposed to those sorts of heats and vibrations will deteriorate a lot faster.. better off still sticking with a high cycle HD lead acid crank battery that you can punish for years and replace easily! It’s a hard thing to swallow if you damage a lithium under the bonnet. We prefer to move the lithium system into the rear as it’s more accessible and stays cooler too 👍

If you’ve got the $$$ and that’s what is required to keep it bullet proof while touring, then go for! 👍 Are The LandCruiser’s having issues with DPF, like the HiLux’s are?
@NoOne564885 жыл бұрын
Yes it's still an issue i hear by just using google. If you're running around town a lot with start stop traffic i would stay away from any diesel vehicle. I would love a 4x4 of sorts as they are very versatile but it's hard to find one in a petrol version. ( I've heard a rumor that the Aus market might be seeing more petrol versions appear soon)

Thanks. ton for this video. I am going for a VX and should get my delivery by this year end. Should be signing the deal next week. Before I commit just wanted your view on GXL vs VX. I do plan most of the key upgrades you mention in your video (GVM / Mirrors / Increase fuel tank capacity / Tyres / lights / UHF ). So Would it make sense to save 10-12 K on GXL. and then spend heaps on upgrade ? Some guidance would be appreciated. We are a family of four so the third row is coming out for good. We will go offroad bit not SERIOUS offroading... Thanks in advance for your tip. Regards Djay

Hi Guys Just saw your video and got some good ideas,great work and lots of hard work there congratulations ,I am also about to pick up my VX next month. Question - how safe is it to put battery's in the area were people will be sitting?I have seen battery's explode and would not want that happening in vehicle should a battery problem go undetected.
@ProTouringTV4 жыл бұрын
Garry Josemans hey mate thanks for the comment.. it’s a good questions and is one that I brought to this owners attention as well. We’ve also seen older batteries swell and leak etc.. these new modern lithium in an enclosed cell casing are a pretty tough battery. We run a battery guard on all of our installs to basically disconnect them when they hit a certain voltage .. this basically means that nothing can keep draining the lithium .. 2nd to that.. the lithium has its own internal battery guard. If our one fails it will disconnect itself too 👍

geoff gypsy drives unreal mate , it’s a solid ride at first but needs the weight to soften it. These kits are designed for constant load or towing a van often. If you plan on just having one for a daily driving around town soccer Mum car then I wouldn’t suggest this suspension system 👍

@bradymn15 жыл бұрын
Would like to know this too. Can't see any fixings in any of the videos (maybe some rivets on the leading edge). Is it just Sikka'd to the rack?
@ProTouringTV4 жыл бұрын
Frooty hey mate cheers for the comment.. we use a combination of silicones/ tapes and rivets 👍 stick with silicone as it can expand with the heat that the panel attracts. Anything too rigid and it will cause the cells to fracture when they got hot

Awesome build Caleb! Quick question - I see you have a 125Ah battery which Enerdrive say have an invertor capacity of 1000w, yet you have installed a 2000w in this build. How'd you get around that?
@bradk87022 жыл бұрын
Correct. You’d need around 240 Ah of Li battery to drive a 2000 W inverter. No response after 2 years!

Hi Guys I just had a question about the drifts draw system you put in Tony and Eva’s VX 200 . I have a GXL 200 and I’m trying to finalise my draws with drifta. Did you get the left side wing made wider to fit the 125 ah lithium battery ? Drifta we’re going to put a recess in behind my fridge for it but would much prefer it where you guys have put it as I want to fit a water tank. Also I wasn’t sure about drift’s cargo barrier mounting brackets in the wheel arch ! Did you put in the cargo barrier from auto safe ? Looks like it leaves more space in the side wing area ? Is the one you used the half cargo barrier ? Any info would be great . Thanks for your help
@ProTouringTV Жыл бұрын
Hey mate. At the time yes we did have it made wider to suit. We haven’t used Drifta since this drawer unit. We use Loaded drawer units as they build to our specs to suit larger systems. Also on more recent kits we were using the half height barriers and have the bottom mount directly to the top of the drawer unit. The bottom is the part that is certified it’s the top mount bracket of the barrier 👍

Looks like a great setup. I hope they're not towing too large a van with it. With the 200 fully loaded at 4200kg and a GCM of 6850kg it leaves about 2650kg left for a fully loaded van. How does the Toyota warranty fare once the GVM upgrade etc... has been installed. Has this ever been tested, say if a drivetrain fails because of works outside of Toyota recommendations?
@ProTouringTV5 жыл бұрын
Hey mate. This kit is the only federal GVM upgrade to retain 3.5T BTC... 7.7T Gross combined in other words. As far as warranty is concerned , most of these kits are done pre rego and still handed over by the Toyota dealership (if not through us or JMACX direct).. if a component of the suspension or rear axle housing fails it will fall under the manufacturer 👍 Cheers
