6:39 You mentioned plywood and house wrap are best for under a cantilever. Can you discuss it further it in another video? I'm also interested in the details around porch cantilever overhangs like the detail at the wall to cantilever intersection for water leaks, places for air leaks, flashing the ends.

Tyvek has some pretty good installation guides that cover cantilevers, but yes, it is on my short list of topics to cover more deeply.

Why not hang house wrap in vertical strips from top to bottom? No horizontal taping needed in that case.

Tyvek isn't an air barrier.

It is if you install it to be part of an air barrier system, and it can certyainly be installed in an airtight manner. It is not a VAPOR barrier, despite a lot of people calling it that.

No. You dont want airtight construction. You want a house that exchanges air naturally to cut down on mold and outgassing. The key is proper construction and insulation to resist heat and cold transmission. Concrete or Hebel block or ICF walls. Steel roof trusses and roofing. Whole house fan. Minimum R-40. Only wood in structure is CDX plywood and interior studs. Hardilap if you must. Based on 45 years as Inspector and Designer.

wow hard to bekeieve anyone as experienced as you is still so behind the times..discouraging we are ever login to see the necessary change we need in consecutive in resin trial co instruction. OF course you need ventilation, but you need filtered, controlled and balanced cld ventilation, not random and variable through dirty fiberglass mats and holes in the house.

If your house isn't airtight, the insulation is completely pointless.
