Love spinners. I have put a barrel swivel 4 feet up my line and a weight above that. This has allowed me to get the lure down deep quickly. One such day I was fishing a large hole before the take out. I could see a big boulder in the middle of the hole that I thought most wouldn’t have fished. As the lure was swinging in front of the boulder I slowly let line out. Steelhead hit it as it came around the rock. Sometimes you just have to try something different.

I like running a bit lighter braid because it cuts through the water better when a fish is hot. Just need to mend line like a boss

For when you're tossing spinners and you have your 10' bumper of fluro so you not add any sort of swivel into the mix anywhere so you don't get bad line twist?

I just use normal mono 20 lb test on my spinning reel works fine. No braid line hate that line it’s the worst when you get snags impossible to get out unless you have 10 lb lead line lol

Not trying to be mean Jordan. But when you high stick it with a spinner you have steeper line angle, less line in the water so your spinner fishes deeper, lower rod position more water drag, less depth for your spinner. Doesn't seem like it but after 45 years of steely fishing, growing up 4 minutes away from river you kinda figure things out.

Interesting I didn't know you can't use scent in Washington!!!! That is really good to know I will be on a trip in the Olympic peninsula this July and I was thinking of getting your steelhead procure.... I already have trout blend so I guess I won't be using that at all! 😅😅😅 Also I am from Colorado not really many big creeks or rives! And I like to fish in the mountains so I like to use a small rod.... I have a 6' 6-12 2 piece...... Do I really need to get something bigger or will I be just fine for this trip for only a few days. In hopes to catch my first steelhead 😊
