Thank you for the video. I want to go to France but I heard they are mean to English speakers… I would almost prefer to not go rather then to get there and have my dreams shattered by mean Parisians… was knowing travel French be enough or are they still snippety to you? Assumimg you were there recently?? Like Marchish? … oh wait, you went to the lavender fields… Don’t they bloom in June and July? What’s the best time to visit?

I recently visited Paris for the first time and had the same concern as you. My experience was that they are friendly and helpful. All you have to do really is just make the smallest effort like bonjour and merci and you are good to go. In Paris a lot of people speak a fair amount of English so it’s really fine and not a big deal.

You have only seen part of Provence, if you come back (I hope you will) do the rest, go to the Cote d'Azur, visit the hinterland, the perched villages, the Mercantour park , the seaside, the islands, go to Cannes, Nice, Grasse (near my home), Antibes, Menton... The French don't hate Americans but some of your compatriots are often annoying, they don't speak, they moo as if they were in the yard of their farm. You have made the effort of a few words in French, that's enough to open doors for you. You ate and drank French, so there you are definitely adopted.

Thanks so much for this video ! We've been to Provence for many years, but there was so much I've never heard of. We're going there with our camper and our nine years old son next week for about 14 to 16 days and we'll be visiting some of these locations. Very happy about that

As a French person who has lived in the states for ever! But own a house in france and now spend 5 months a year there, I can assure you that most French folks do like Americans. English was not taught properly in school for a very long time. And French tend to be perfectionists and shy about using the little English they know. Young folks who now travel more than the previous generation are much more fluent in English .

Loved the video! Two questions: What shoes did you wear? Did you do sneakers the whole time or did you do sandals? Also for the farmers market, how much cash would you say a person should bring?
