Every year, a Calor Gas heater should be serviced at a Calor Gas dealer like yours. The service procedure for the Provence involves a check of the regulator and tubing with replacement if worn, and a clean of the burner air intake, pilot, burner top and fuel piece. This avoids tall yellow flames and sooting of the heater back and glass and ensures the heater operates properly and cleanly. An inspection of the flame should be carried out every time you use it.

Hi, just a question, I have turned mine on for the first time, and as GizzaKissThen, mine is glowing an no real flames, is this as the logs are curing, will it get better once this is done?

The gas should be allowed to burn out after the regulator is turned off before you turn off the heater controls. This is to allow any gas still present in the system to burn off and prevent unignited gas escaping so causing a flare-up on next ignition.

1:13 - 1:16. If there's no clicking, install an AA battery. Take care as the spring may pop out when you open the battery compartment.

And when you install a good quality AA alkaline battery into the ignition button, once unscrewed, make sure the plus+ symbol faces downward, and carefully, screw the ignition button, spring facing down until hand-tight. Do NOT overtighten or crossthread it.

The UI Provence is not dangerous if you use it properly. Twist the cylinder door knob and remove the cylinder door from the back of the heater. Take out the instructions leaflet on the base of the heater. Insert a suitable 7 to 15kg butane gas cylinder with a 21mm valve fitting into the back of the heater with the valve shroud facing outwards, and push the regulator onto the bottle with the palm of your hand until it locks. Replace the cylinder door and twist the knob until it locks. Remove the synthetic coals by opening the glass door of the heater and carefully unpack them. Insert the coals into the front of the heater as indicated in the instructions. Twist the regulator knob to the red flame symbol, if you have a Calor Essentials leak detector spray aerosol or soapy water solution, spray or brush this onto the connections and check for bubbles, if any form, wipe it dry and check the connections on the cylinder regulator and gas entry point, and make sure the connections are gas tight by pushing the gas tubing further on to the regulator stub and heater gas inlet, then check again, if there are no bubbles this time round, proceed further with the lighting sequence. Lift the lid, and unscrew the igniter button, then lift out and insert an AA alkaline battery with "plus+" facing down, and rescrew the rubber button down in the opposite way to how you unscrewed it. Don't overtighten the button or crossthread it. Once the button is hand tight as far as it will go, push the heat setting control downward and twist to 2 and hold a few seconds to allow the gas to flow through, then press the ignitor button for a constant stream of sparks, and hold the heat setting knob, until you hear a whoosh sound (the gas igniting), then hold for a further ten seconds for the flame failure device and thermocouple to warm up, then release. You may select the appropriate heat setting 1, 2, or 3 as desired or leave in 2, if you wish. Always check the appearance of the flame everytime you use the heater, if the flames burn tall and yellow with soot, turn the heater off with the regulator by twisting to the green symbol, and allow to cool, then open the glass door and to your right, is a gauzed air intake, it may be clogged by fluff or dust, remove this from the gauzed air intake, then close the glass door and turn the knob to shut, then follow the usual lighting sequence. If the flames burn blue, all is well. If they still burn yellow, there is a more serious problem, and in this event contact Calor Gas UK or if you're in Ireland, Calor Gas Ireland or Calor Gas Northern Ireland for details of a service agent, or the makers of the heater Universal Innovations, for details of a LPG qualified gas service engineer.

The burner and burner air intake on the metal pipe feeding the burner (a gauzed cut out to the right of the burner and fuel piece) might be clogged or blocked by dust on The Gas Centre's Provence gas heater in this demonstration, the flame tops are yellow here. If the air intake on the metal burner pipe is obstructed by dust dirt or fluff, the tops of the flames will be yellow whereas if the burner and air intake is clear of dust dirt and fluff, the burner flame will be blue.

Why can’t I fit my gas cylinder to the regulator? It’s just loose and not clicking into place . It’s 21mm cylinder valve just as the regulator is so that’s not the issue

Your regulator should be in the off position. Once this is done simply push the regulator firmly down onto the cylinder using the palm of your hand. You should hear the regulator click into position. Once this is done, turn the regulator onto the 'on' position. You should then be able to turn your heater on. Please remember to turn the regulator off when you are not using the heater.

Are you releasing the control knob too soon after igniting the heater? You need to hold the heat setting control knob in a few seconds after ignition to allow the thermocouple and flame failure device to warm up. If you are still having problems contact your nearest Calor dealer or Calor Centre and have them look at it and / or service / repair it. Don't attempt to try fix it yourself.

We have been on 2 days and still not got regulator to fit on gas bottle, it is nothing like the one in your video, I have 2 other cheaper butane heaters and they take seconds to connect. what am I doing wrong?
@anthonyperkins7556
@anthonyperkins7556 Жыл бұрын
There are two sizes of butane cylinder valve, 20mm and 21mm, most butane gas cylinders have a 21mm valve fitting but Flo-Gas offers both sizes, 20mm ftting on their blue butane bottle, and 21mm fitting on their yellow butane bottle. You may have be trying to force fit a 20mm valve Butane regulator onto a 21mm valve bottle or vice-versa i.e. a 21mm valve Butane regulator into a 20mm valve bottle. Check what size valve your bottle has then purchase the correct size regulator suitable for your bottle.

Is there a trouble shooter section I bought my portable gas heater a month ago and it was working fine the gas cilinder ran out whilst it was in use it made a slight puff sound. But when I connected the new cilender the ignition is not catching. I've taken the logs out and blown on them incase any dust but no difference. Help please

There are a few things you can check, on the pipe feeding the burner, in the front of the heater, there is an air intake masked by steel gauze, check this isn't blocked by dust or fluff. if it is, remove the obstruction, remove the fuel piece and make sure the burner is also clear of anything, then remove any obstruction if any. If all that checks out, close the front door and tighten the door screw to hand tight, then turn on the gas at the regulator, twist and turn the control knob to the second flame position and star symbol, and igniting the heater whilst holding the knob down with the battery igniter, a stream of sparks will ignite the gas and burner, hold in for ten seconds, and release. Check the flames for proper operation. If there are problems, turn off the regulator and let the flames go out, then turn off the heater control knob to the first setting. Contact Calor Gas UK for details of your nearest dealer or Gas-Safe LPG qualified engineer to service the heater.

Must be a common thing with these heaters seen two for sale with that very same problem. A good gas sparky might fix it, could be a simple enough problem.

There are 3 settings on the heater, a pilot setting (just a gentle glow), a second proper heat setting (small flames) and the third heat setting (high flames). If you're using the first setting, then all you get is a glow, no visible flame. If you are using the 2nd or 3rd setting, and there are still no flames, the heater might want a service, contact Calor Gas UK for details of your nearest dealer or Gas-Safe qualified LPG engineer, they might be able to help.

@@anthonyperkins7556 Thanks for the reply Anthony but there is no visible flame at all on any of the settings - just different glows. I've tried taking out the coals and vacuuming but to no avail. I'll look for a service engineer as you suggested, and thanks again

It is a stupid design for disabled person it is heavy, bulky overly complicated the lid make it hard to use as it stops you from seeing and getting to switch's so every time you want to use it you need to pull it and turn it round, the lid should have been hinged at the back like the one in this video.

There is a gauzed air intake for the burner when you open the glass door on the front of the heater. Try removing any fluff or dust off this, it could be blocking the intake of air needed to burn the gas properly. If, despite removing this, you're still getting a sooty yellow flame, then the heater needs a service. Turn the heater off, let it cool, and book it into an LPG qualified Gas Safe engineer for a service or contact Calor Gas for details of a heater service agent i.e. some of the bigger Calor Gas dealers will service / repair your heater to eliminate the soot problems.
