Speaking of this, I opened up my Bible today and landed on Judges 1. I read it and what stuck out to me was that, God specifically told the Israelites that they had his permission and power to wipe out the people living in the land because they worshipped pagan gods. Instead of taking that power and using it, they chose to enslave the people. They went against God. And in Judges 2 it says that the next generation turned away from God. [Also a side note: Personally I think God has spoken a lot to me through "secular" music. I do agree with what you said though that what you speak says a lot about you] When you refuse to utilize God's power to defeat evil, his power is ultimately wasted. So, like the Israelites refused to throw out the people of the land, if you refuse to throw out the sin in your life, not only will you suffer the consequences, your children may suffer the consequences of your sin too

Man it’s crazy how God works because I read been reading the Bible start to finish and when I read Judges 1 I had a similar revelation and I learned that I need to do what God tells me to do completely and at the time I really needed to hear that. I still listen to secular music with my bros because they listen to it and it affects everyone differently but for me personally I memorize the lyrics to every song so I can sing it fully and I realized by doing this with secular music I was normalizing cussing and speaking on stuff of the world such as fornicating, adultery, killing ppl , etc. I will not lie and say I don’t still think the music sounds good with the beat but a lot of the popular music in our society’s messages aren’t aligned with the Bible which is why I switched to listening to worship and christian rap music now. Listening to certain music doesn’t make you send directly but it can lead to Satan being able to tempt you easier

@Chosen1Reggie for me I was really depressed as a teenager because I could somewhat see how sick the world was. It wasn't as bad as it is now but I could still recognize it through the way I was treated by my classmates [irony being that we went to a Christian school for our teenage years and I got bullied for being socially awkward]. Music was the one place I found my comfort. Still the place I find it today. I prefer music like Selena Gomez's where people tend to focus on the positives. Also Machine Gun Kelly [although people have some good arguments why and I can see it]. A lot of my favorite "secular" artists are actually women who sing more about their experiences in life than anything else. I have always had a hard time relating with worship music so I think these artists are God's of way saying: "okay. So maybe you can't relate to this, but I found you something/someone you *can* relate to." The important thing to do is to be able to recognize when something pulls you from Him.
