I mean id argue ASPECTS of Ridley are top tier. Sharking + 2 framing especially... also edge guarding / ledge trapping and disjoints. But some matchups are just pain

Wait until he finds out that up B spike can 2-frame and you can do it from the ledge or from side platforms (I'm sure he knows but it's probably not worth the risk of SDing to him, also dair can do similar but isn't AS much of a death sentence if you mess up, but I still want him to get comfortable enough to do it because it looks sick as FUCK)

As somebody who mained Ridley, it's super satisfying to see this. I hope once esports falls off more and people focus more on content (like this video), it'll truly open up the gateways into who's truly good and not in Smash. Historically, the meta has largely been dictated by reinforced perception by top players. Not to say some of it isn't absolutely true, because it is, but it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy to an extent, too. People don't play the character because they think they're bad and won't risk ANY chance of losing, so the character goes unexplored up to 20 years. Look at Melee DK.

You should try this with Captain Falcon. You always say how good you think he is. I have over 2000 hours with this character and I would say I've come pretty close to mastering him completely. There's just so many mus where if you're fighting a competent player, there's not much you can do lol

It's weird, because I think both are somewhat true? Like, his experience playing a top tier has allowed him to play more consistently at top level and get top level gameplay experience with this game (yes, I know Esam has been around since Melee, but you still have to learn Ult to get good at it), and it then translates into Ridley, who is much harder to learn to get good/results with, but with the applied knowledge now would likely be a menace at locals/states/regionals.
