After years of a Provo man's packages being delivered to the incorrect address by FedEx, he decided to Get Gephardt.

FedEx delivered a package to my house, took a picture to prove it had been delivered, and then took the package. I called FedEx and told them that the package wasn't here. They said they had photographs of it being delivered, and I told them I had a video of the delivery guy stealing the package. Thank goodness for "ring" doorbell cameras.

It's sad that you have to have a camera to make people do the simplest things, but thats what it's come to. Strange that a delivery driver doesn't know they're probably being recorded. They probably still have a job, too.

The problem is that the company is so big that there’s no connection between customer service and the drivers, the driver fleet is buffered. I know, my company has this issue too. I think the actual problem here is whatever technology they have in the truck doesn’t distinguish properly between North and South on an address. My company doesn’t have that problem but they’ve been delivering after business hours and leaving things unattended.

It was so heavy, I had to get a neighbor to help bring it in. I called the customer service department, who assured me the driver would be told to bring my packages to the porch. He did twice, each time throwing them and the boxes were torn up. After that it was back to searching for my packages. He even leaves them somewhere between my driveway and the road during rain. I tried again and got the run around, different people and departments. I wish companies would let you pick your delivery service. UPS always puts packages on my porch.

UPS used to do the exact same thing to me as well. They would deliver all my packages to an address I hadn't lived at for well over 10 years and every single time I'd pick it up at the house I would check the label and it would have my correct address on the first label but they would print up another label and put it right on top of the good label then deliver it to the wrong house. And just so happens this house is also 25 miles from where I live now so I'd have to watch for the tracking to say delivered then take off immediately and drive 50 miles round trip to get my packages before they came up missing. How did I fix the problem? By stopping picking up my packages and report every single one of them as lost and after UPS had to pay for a couple of lost packages they finally listened to me and corrected my address like I had asked them to do dozens of times before. I swear UPS and FedEx are the most incompetent companies I've ever seen in my life.

We had a UPS driver that would just drive by on the street and toss packages into your yard. A neighbor had his brother send him an urn (he worked at a funeral home) full of ashes, and marked it as human remains. Well, when that was tossed out of the truck, it was a felony. He had a video camera pointed out at the road and caught it all on video. He showed it to the cops along with the busted open urn and “grandma’s remains” and the cops went straight after the UPS driver. This was back in the 90’s, so the cops roughed the driver up good, and the courts refused him a bond. Ended up charging him for everything they could, every package he threw and didn’t deliver was some kind of crime. From there, they investigated UPS and found a bunch of management to have aided and abetted his crimes and they got charged as well. For the rest of the time I lived in that area, we had the best UPS service you could imagine. Then I moved to a town that had both numbered streets and spelled out numbered streets. So Second Street and 2nd Street. Third Street and 3rd Street. And in case you don’t know, every single bill you will get, they will automatically change the word to the number for some reason. So when you live on Seventh Street, your mail all goes to 7th street. The post office tried, but UPS and FedEx just delivered wherever they wanted. I ended up getting a lawyer friend to send some letters and some letter from a judge saying they can’t shut my service off/charge late fees/whatever if they couldn’t get a bill to the correct address. That fixed things for a while.

I 4 drove 4 foot tall rebar along driveway and anywhere someone might try to drive. I put the about 10 feet apart. I thought it would be enough to alert people that I didn’t want anybody driving beyond the stakes. First, the mail b&|#@ thought it was OK to drive through them, since her car fit, and turn around in my back yard. I asked her, politely, not to do that again. She said she’s not allowed to back up and must turn around in the yard. I said, until the grass is well established, I’d prefer you not drive off of the driveway. She said, “Fine! You can come to the post office and pick up your packages.” I have similar problems with UPS and Fed-Ex, but no where close to the USPS.

Former FedEx delivery driver here. Sadly, the vast majority of FedEx drivers just plainly don’t care. The Ground drivers are forced to load their own trucks every morning. Once they’re on the road they rush to get done and get home. Some drivers work 12 hour days to do 65 stops. Other drivers can run 150 stops in as little as 6-8 hours. Basically, the drivers work for an independent contractor and the contractor pays the drivers salary. Many contractors do NOT offer insurance, PTO, sick days, or any other type of perk. There’s no room for advancement. Thus, the reason MOST drivers just don’t bother to do the job thoroughly.

But then I got an email saying that they are sorry they tried to deliver it but I was not home. I found a phone number and called FedEx and said look I've been sitting here all day, and your email says she tried to deliver at 1:35 p.m. and I was sitting right here staring at the road and she never came by. I am a FedEx delivery driver as well, many of us will go out of our way to help and make sure your package is delivered correctly, unfortunately the company doesn't really care I have literally been told to stack multiple boxes that said fragile don't not stack ECT. My bosses exact words were, "It's not our job to make sure the deliveries are perfect, if they don't want it they can return it." There are a few caveats; 1: The instructions are OPTIONAL, don't be rude in your message because as long as it is legally on your property and in one of the many zones we are allowed to place them porch, garage, front door, side door ECT. They don't care 2: Most packages don't actually require a signature, but if you leave a note that says no signature needed, that's not true certain packages, alcohol, hazmat ECT MUST have signatures or we have to take it back 3: If you have dogs, we do not have to deliver into your property, if we don't feel safe no matter how nice you think your dog is most of us will leave it at the end of your driveway, I've been chased and bit more times than I care to remember 4 If you have a gate or fence in the way, we are not required to open the fence or gate, multiple of my co workers have been accused of stealing or breaking things because they opened gates and such so many of us won't open anything we are not absolutely required to, the only thing that saved us was the cameras on the trucks 5: If you are rude some of the guys will literally go out of their way to not acquiesce to your request, I know of a certain customer who loves in the country, he refuses to give us a gate code and says that the side gate is opened his exact message say " Pick up the package and walk." Which is rude and he has a quarter mile driveway, we are supposed to make a certain amount of deliveries per hour based on our route, none of us are wasting 30 minutes to deliver to your door

@fd9987 The damages would be the loss of property (US postage) due to the neglect of the postage carrier who would have a federal duty to make sure that they did it right. I do still on that property but don't live there. Where I live now, I did have an issue where they were over filling my mail box with packages, and as a result, some of the mail would be falling out and being lost as a result. It would be the same concept. It this case I did sue and won, they ended up having to also replace my mailbox because the judge saw that the box was damaged, mainly due to age but he said that he couldn't rule out that the damage had been cause by the neglect of the postage carrier. They also had to pay us $15k. But this was in a completely different county, and we didn't have to deal with corrupt officials protecting each other.

Whenever FedEx tracking said a package would arrive on a Saturday, we’d inevitably end up instead with an update that “the business was closed or the resident could not be contacted”, and the delivery pushed to Monday. But we’re not a business, and they didn’t need to contact us. Turns out they didn’t have any drivers for our area on Saturdays, and they checked the box for this particular excuse because it didn’t damage their performance metrics (i.e. not their fault it wasn’t delivered). When I called and threatened to go to a consumer advocacy group who would bring public scrutiny, they stopped using that BS excuse. Still no Saturday deliveries, but at least the lying stopped. Since I've been on the same route for 3 years and know everyone by now, I just take it where it needs to go. Btw, there are 13 addresses on my route that has this glitch continuously popping up. A lot of shippers never hear about the mistakes FedEx makes because the recipients complain to FedEx. FedEx doesn’t care because you aren’t the one paying. Complain to the shipper. FedEx listens to the people who pay them.

This would be great to do and everything, but you do realize that the USPS quite often passes packages to FedEx and UPS, right?? It’s nice to pretend that you have control over your shipments, but if USPS has a lot on their plate, you have no say in how they deliver your packages. That’s even worse when you want to order something online, because obviously you’re shipping nothing, the seller is, and they just want to ship the products at the lowest price possible. This also goes the other direction as well, as USPS has delivered plenty of items they were shipped using FedEx, or UPS, directly to my house. I think this guy did the best thing he could have, got the news involved, made the issue public, and FedEx will have to finally address the issue.
@stevensola33615 ай бұрын
It is 100% the shippers choice, I have contacted the shippers and informed them they were losing my business due to their shipping methods. My brother bought a perishable item for a Holiday and paid an extra $25 dollars for it to arrive the day before the Holiday, FedEx brought it two days after the Holiday. No one wanted to refund, so I review bomed both through all accounts I have. He got refunded by the shipper and it was a horrible product BTW.

Depending on sizes of the packages your regular USPS might be delivering for FedEx as well. Might need to check in with the post office as well. I just called in a complaint less than a week ago because the FedEx driver “delivered” my package by my curbside garbage can where large pieces of trash are put out for disposal. Had I not coincidentally been home at that time, my entire order would have just been carted away. No reason for it either. I don’t have outside dogs or a long driveway, and the package weighed approximately 10 pounds. I was livid. The complaint center was very obviously overseas, and the operator apologized but tried to downplay the situation as if the package wasn’t being delivered to my specifications. No…the package was literally delivered to trash pickup. That’s not a preference…that’s gross negligence.

UPS delivered a package to our ranch gate a few days ago. Not our address. Not our package. In fact, not even a valid address. We drove up and down the road and finally saw a similar (off by 600) address and two women. My husband hollered at them. It was their package. Weird coincidence that we happened to find the address. 824 on the package; 224 was where it needed to go. And no, they didn’t lie. She said they were waiting for a carburetor for the MG and the package was from a car parts shipper.

Maybe instead of complaining you should look at it from their point of view, drivers are pushed to the max trying to get all the stops off in the allotted time ups says it takes, knowing there times are off. I've had this problem for years from FedEx, USPS, DoorDash, and everything from the university of Utah. It's the mapping software they use. Grid system addresses aren't recognized correctly. If you try to use both N/S and E/W the system will basically drop one of them and use the house number to essentially guess the address. I've lost thousands of dollars of medications/deliveries/food due to these mapping issues.

If I deliver it to where it says it’s supposed to go I don’t get in trouble, even if it disappears. One Christmas time I received about 35 packages all with different names and PO Box numbers. I don't have a PO Box I have a Regular mail box in front of my house. FedEx never comes to pick up the packages when I call.
