That battle would be pretty ugly, TFA Prowl basically had everything IDW1 Prowl didn’t, he got to avoid the war and has relationships that are genuine and people listened to him and basically died a hero. I imagine IDW1 prowl being pretty jealous and spiteful while TFA is just disgusted that a version of him would turn out like that. Now I imagine all the idw1 characters looking at TFA Prowl and are like ‘can we keep this one? He’s actually pretty cool’ lol

Growing up, I was the kid in class that said "I want to be a policeman." My aunt was blazing trails in DC Metro, so she was my motivation. I ended up with great respect for police, fire, and EMS. I went on to serve as military police before joining local LE. As such, most of my favorite toys and media involved them. Case and point; C.O.P.S. was my favorite cartoon, Prowl and Ratchet were my favorite Autobots, the Protectobots were my favorite team, Law and Lifeline were my favorite GI Joes, etc. I have owned every incarnation of Prowl, Ratchet, Red Alert, Inferno, the Protectobots, and every other police, fire, and EMS themed Transformer and GI Joe to release domestically.

TFA Prowl was one of the first versions of Prowl that I saw and loved. His story arc and his ninja skills made him a standout for me and I loved how he and Jazz interacted. So I was heartbroken when he died fr😭. Since then I've just enjoyed any version of Prowl but I legit still don't know how g1 Prowl captivated me so much despite having little appearances in the show. His design is so reminiscent of the Super Robot Genre of the time that I grew up with, especially his striking red Chevron that pops out. Michael Bell's cool and smooth voice fitted very much to Prowl's personality given in the bios. I guess that's the magic of g1 fr. No matter how small of appearance a character makes, it will be someone's favorite. Prowl is just one of those characters that needs to make more frequent appearances along with Jazz in media fr. He'll always be SiC if the Autobots for me

I do hope, if they do make an origin story, that they don't make it as simple as "The Quintessons built the Cybertronians and the military bots became the Decepticons and the servant class became the Autobots." I'd always think the cars with the rockets on the shoulders should have been military class cybertronians and Autobots like Prowl were Cybertronians who were built for military but believed in the rights of sentient life to build their own destiny. Then this origin story could be about the Cybertronians choosing sides.

@@dylanknight2761 I've got a whole script in my head about Cybertron between the end of the Quintesson war and the beginning of the civil war and Cybertronians choosing sides. Some of it is inspired by the dreamwave comics mind you. I also like this little idea I had of Jazz and Soundwave running a podcast/news show together. Just the idea of them speaking to each other in their unique voices. Jazz with all that energy and Soundwave with none is entertaining to me.

Prowl was my favorite Autobot from the original cartoon...I was mad when he got killed off within ten minutes in the animated movie. Interesting Prowl and Quackerjack were both voiced by Michael Bell,since they had such different personalities.

Great video. I must say, Prowl was one of the most aesthetically pleasing toys of the 80s. He was absolutely iconic on the G1 screen. No windowed/shelf display looks official without a Prowl figure on or in it. A top 5 Autobot of all time

I love Prowl! I may be late to this retrospective but it was a fun one! Prowl was always a cool Transformers character! Obscure for not being in the live action films, I love him thanks to the shows. I love the G1 and Animated versions of the character, Animated Prowl I’m glad got a Legacy version! Energon Prowl should’ve been named Mirage instead but you know how Hasbro had their name trademark issue at the time. The fact that his face was the inspiration for the Autobot symbol makes him such an important character in the franchise!

Fantastic job as usual, Rodimus - my own personal favourite version of Prowl is the one found in the Marvel UK comics, and more specifically the brilliantly fun Earthforce stories in which Prowl is one of the main characters - his 'odd couple'-esque relationship with Grimlock is especially well-handled there, and I've always enjoyed that little dialogue he has with Wheeljack that you highlighted at 6.43, which sums up the 'back to basics' nature of those stories in hilarious fashion, and later carries on as follows below: Prowl: "...Should find the answer up here." Wheeljack: "Big deal! Probably some Microheadtargetmaster with a Pretender shell...!" (PS: Fingers crossed we'll get that Studio Series 86 toy of Prowl that you mentioned, yes...?).

In TFTM, most kids were devastated when Optimus died. But for me, seeing smoke emanating from the eyes of my very favourite Autobot and LITERALLY watching the light go OUT of those same optic sensors---that DEVASTATED me. It wasn't until adulthood that I could watch Prowl's final scene again. G1 Prowl being a Police car (with those cool door wings flanking him) made him stand out from the rest of the Autos for me. And Michael Bell giving him Sgt. Duke's (G.I. Joe) dogmatic leading man voice (as opposed to Sideswipe's more lighthearted tone) added to his air of authority. To this day, I don't know why Prowl's status as second-in-command wasn't OFFICIALLY stated in the G1 cartoon as it was for Starscream. His original Tech Specs CLEARLY show him ranking right below Optimus, and indeed, he took charge of the 'Bots in the US & UK comics whenever Prime was indisposed. (I've gotten many an argument from Transfans who ferociously argue that Jazz and Ironhide rank above him, or that Prowl has NO authority at all! Facts be darned...) The Dreamwave writers wrote Prowl beautifully, but IDW turning him into a morally dubious glitch went against all that Jazz said about him in his DW bio: "Prowl's loyalty to Prime and the Autobot cause is unwavering---he's got strong notions about truth, meaning, and justice." THAT'S the Prowl I admired from day one. Yes, that description fits MOST Autobots, but few more so than Prowl. I get that Prowl is a stiff hard case at times - like the X-Men's Cyclops - but you need a no-nonsense guy like that planning strategy and organizing the troops, not having parties. (That's Ratchet's job!) Prowl is one of the best Transformers there is, and I hope future writers - in comics, cartoons, or movies - recognize that.

In the Marvel Comic adaptation of TRANSFORMERS: THE MOVIE, Prowl responds to Ironhide about a meteor shower hitting their shuttle (which of course was the Decepticon attack). I assume THIS was the line that was cut out of the film, as Michael Bell said Prowl had a speaking part in it. Oddly, he's still credited at the end of the movie along with Swoop, Scrapper, and Bombshell.
