I own a few Heimdallr’s and grown to trust them. Also love the sharks 🦈 branding. In this comparison I must admit that the Proxima is better looking.

Awesome. I wish more of you guys would give Proxima a look. I was turned onto them by "Relative Time," and while I did not buy the one he reviewed, I did find something else while checking them out and I LOVE the watch I bought. I love the company too, and the way they do business. You pretty much start with the base model of your choice, and then build your own watch from there. You get to choose your bezel, your case material and even your movement. Very Cool! But this is only the second time I have seen them reviewed. Glad to see this!

Steeldive has some time ago released a new version of their Tuna in new red/yellow/orange colorways. It's the sweetest Tuna for the price (around 100-105$)

Just got my Heimdallr Willard from the Watcher and very happy with it... Great guy. What clinched the deal over the Steeldive was that the bezel lume (pip only) matches the colour of the hands/dial lume. Other than that I think they are very similar with an edge to Steeldive for value and the fact they have their own factory (they used to make watches for Addiesdive too but that changed apparently).

That Proxima is a great watch. I think better but. I just find it hard to look at. I think for me, Heimdallr is above the Proxima. Legibility for a watch is key. Thanks for the review/comparison.

I have many Tunas by Steeldive and about a month ago I decided to buy a HEIMDALLR Tuna. I must say that I was very disappointed for two very serious problems: 1) the rotating bezel is blocked, it does not turn, due to the clip pushing too hard inside it; 2) after having only washed my hands with the watch on my wrist, I realized that a lot of water had entered inside: I investigated and discovered that Heimdallr mounted a too thin, unsuitable caseback gasket. A huge mistake! With the Steeldive Tunas never encountered any problems and they also cost even less than HEIMDALLR!

I have a Proxima MM300 that I bought a few years ago. The specs are great but the build quality is just... Ok. I hope their quality has improved since I bought mine.

I like the Proxima. I wish they did a few simple dials as well. There is so much variety in textures and design, but no basic matte black dial. That's the only thing pushing me to the Full Steel Sea Shepherd.

@@TheWatcherReviews Good point. They do. I don't like that dial layout on the Tuna though. I think it is over-used on far too many Seiko homages. Everything from SKX homages to Samurais. That said, thank you for this detailed comparison. It has made my decision much easier to make. I was also considering getting the Sea Shepherd with the Heimdallr Engineer, but thanks to you, I think I'll give their three-link a shot. Thanks again. Cheers!

Nice comparison. You should check out the Merkur Ocean Master 1000, I think it might be a contender at $170 with discount code. I’ve got one and have to say, monobloc, domed sapphire, ceramic with great bezel action and lume everywhere. Built like a brick. Definitely worth a look.

How do you dig into the movement on the Proxima? Does the bezel simply come off with the shroud removed and the crystal screwed in or ….

For the traditional TUNA look Sharkey nails it. For some weird reason Proxima went with what reminds me of a Seiko 5 dial!
