You just broke your arm but I am here for you. A non displaced proximal humerus fracture is a break in the bone near your shoulder joint or fracture of the upper arm where the pieces of bone at the fracture site are separated, but not out of position.
A displaced fracture is when the pieces of bone at the fracture site are separated and shifted out of position. This type of fracture typically requires surgery. A break more towards the elbow would be a humerus shaft fracture.
📸 Instagram ➔ dradamfields
👍 Facebook: DrAdamFields/
Most likely, you had a fall on your hand and the force went up to the head of your humerus and it broke. If there is no separation of the bones, and only a break, then surgery is usually not indicated and this is where this shoulder rehabilitation series will be great for you. Welcome to your virtual physical therapy for your shoulder complex.
These shoulder rehab videos are not an excuse to avoid your physical therapist, medical doctor or chiropractor. Please check in with your healthcare providers, gain their knowledge and make sure you are reaching your healing goals and that you are ready for each step. In fact, send them a link to the playlist kzbin.info/aero/PLx10M_1d-mu1fR1ucNbX57EyClU3aLiab and let's team up on this.
NOTE: DO ALL AT YOUR OWN RISK.
To help with healing, get on a vitamin D3 and K2 supplement. Vitamin K2 contributes to mitochondrial health, bone density health, vision support, cardiac function support, and more!
The MEGAQuinD3 by Microbiome Labs is my preferred.
Get it here: microbiomelabs.com/register/?ref=drfields
pw: drfields
And here is an interview with my most respected microbiologist about how D3 and K2 can help you: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qJjdpXWpYql3hJo
If the statistics are correct, you may very well have osteoporosis and, along with the supplements, I like a more alkaline diet, some sunlight and, eventually, some weight bearing exercise. With the over age 60 population, the most common fractures are of the hips, then the wrist and the third most common fracture is the proximal humerus. Welcome to the club : ).... and now welcome to your come-back!
WELCOME TO PHASE III. Your patience with this process is being rewarded with some better night sleeps, some elbow flexion and some cautious movement without the use of a brace. This is a short video. So, try to do it two times per day or pair it with Phase II or Phase IV shoulder rehab.

So happy to have found your videos. I'm 5 weeks in after a motorbike accident resulting in a non-displaced fully broken proximal humerus on my left arm (along with other injuries including a bad left leg). The gap in info between what hospital/doctors/physios give during brief appointments and what practical tips are needed is huge (and a bit scary). I've watched ahead through your videos to understand how things could progress - and it's really motivating to see a realistic path ahead that I can look forward to! Each week when I start a new video it's quite challenging, but by the end of a week or two I can confidently do the exercises - the best tangible measure of progress I've found and great motivation. My physio also thanks you :) Thank you for helping me to get moving again with such positivity.

Thank You Dr. Fields! Week 7 after proximal humerus fracture (non-displaced) and I found your rehab videos. The improved mobility I have experienced in just 2 days doing phase III in the morning and Phase IV in the evening is miraculous! I have set my alarm on my phone to do these at least twice a day! I could even pour my coffee with my injured arm this morning!!!! Thank You!, Thank You! Thank You!

Thank you so much for your soothing and encouraging videos! I wish that I had found them earlier, but am starting in where I am and looking forward to progressing through them to healing. I am beginning Week 5 of a non displaced proximal humerus fracture. This happened the day after I was released from my orthopedic doctor from a fractured clavicle. Prior to that I had fallen and fractured bones in the left foot. It's been a challenging 7 months, but I am continually amazed at the healing properties that were placed in our bodies! Your videos will be a decided plus in the process! Again, thank you, and sending encouragement to fellow 'works in progress'!

Greetings from Yorkshire, England. Dr Fields, l’m so grateful for your videos, thank you. I have a proximal humerus non displaced fracture on 5 November but am working at your level 3, week 4 to 5, just taking it steady as l’m an older person, 63 F and have other conditions that hold me back a bit. I am definitely gaining more movement and less stiffness and pain each day because of these excellent exercises and shall move up to the next phase in the next few days. Thank you so much for sharing your expertise with us!

Hi Adam! Scandinavian here, I am so grateful I found your videos and that thanks to the internet I can have my own personal trainer in my living room! I'm in week five and I've been doing the exercises every day since the last two weeks, when you appeared in my feed. I'm looking forward to the sessions every day. You have a very soothing voice and your instructions are the perfect balance between nudging and caring.

Coming up to 4 weeks post injury and getting stronger everyday. I'm definitely a happy soul watching these videos and doing the exercises. The physio last week told me I'm 2-3 weeks ahead of schedule for recovery from this type of fracture 🙂 and consultant informed me from the x-rays that the bones are healing very well. I'm already back on the turbo trainer and hopefully within next 4 weeks I will be back on the bike on the road. Full of gratitude for this wonderful resource and think soon I'll be ready to move onto Weeks 5-6 video.

I broke my bone five weeks ago after two week my doctor was very happy at how well I was healing, he has me extending my arm straight out and straight up, this is getting easier. Now I am 68 a widow, live alone, everyone says I am doing great, I feel I could do more. I listen for I want to be me again. My hardest things are washing my opposite shoulder, washing my hands, wiping off my countertop, tabletop. These are pain full, I do till it gives me pain, then stop.

I imagine, at this point, you have had x-ray confirmation that the fracture is healed. If you haven't, go get one to give you some peace of mind. You need mobility and the courage to go into that. Otherwise, you could get frozen shoulder. Keep bravely moving forward

So I got my fracture January 2nd, wasn't bad enough for surgery. I was supposed to make a therapy appointment last week but I neglected to do it. I also stopped wearing my sling around mid-week three. Was that a mistake? I'm 34 years old and in good health. I still have pretty limited mobility. Is it too late to start therapy?
