Great Video for mounting usb drive, If I wanted to mount a drive with data on it and the file system was exfat, how would that be mounted?

Can i use this method to then use the external hard drive as storage on a TrueNAS VM? Or do I need to do something different. I have a Lenovo M900, and it is currently stock, with the addition of my external 2TB SSD.

Yes you can use NFS and iSCSI and mount it to Proxmox

You can use ‘unmount’ command to remove the mount and mention the path. However if you used hard drive and formatted it in Proxmox it might not be accessible you may need to format again. Ensure to take backup before you take any action

Hi! I followed your steps and now my external drive is showing. If I have a container on local-lvm with Plex on it, how can I have that container read/write from this external drive?

You mean LXC ?

@@syncbricks yes! I have multiple containers with Plex, Sonarr, etc and all containers need access to this storage. I managed to do it with bindmounts but can only get it to work with privileged containers.

I do feel like you skipped over some points though like how did you know which uuid was the one you wanted ? i have about 6 listed and have no idea which is the correct one. also when i opened up my fstab file it was empty is that normal ? And how do i then make that new usb drive /storage accessible with the correct user privileges to one of my LXCs

LXC uses the resources of main OS you can create a directory and mount USB disk to that

You can pass though it to the system that supports NTFS Proxmox session doesn’t support NTFS
