I almost bought one of those, but it was just a 50 watt head. I'm glad I held off though, because now I have an AMAZING Mesa Boogie Recto-Verb 25 that I love!!!

The head is a better value, but yeah, the amp can be a little underwhelming at first. What's getting a little lost here is that the entire eq, including the depth and presence, are remarkably powerful, meaning this is one of those amps that you just need to get to know. Once you do, pretty much any genre is at your disposal, with its own unique, luscious flavor. Especially if you add a neo-creamback and crank the master volume some to wake those tubes up. It won't make you as entertaining or talented as Dagan, though.

For the amount of money PRS is asking for this amp you could buy plethora of other great tube amps and still have some cash left in your pocket,so one has to wonder who is this amp for?

As an owner of one imma put it like this, This is for the player who isnt just dedicated to 1 style. Sure alot amps do things well or even better than the archon but the archon sounds great with almost any style of sound you want. Jack of all trades if you will. If I had to compare it with its metal sound, its like a discount mesa boogie dual rectifier. If you want more of a metalcore sound then I recommend the EVHs and peavey 6505s as this amp still sounds great for those but doesnt necessarily have that right fizzle sound that those amps have. I also have the 6505+ 1x12 combo amp. Long story short this for the guys who want the following: - mesa boogie rectifier sound on a "budget" -fans of Alter Bridge, tremonti, shinedown - guys who want an amp that does almost every style of guitar really well or like to venture to those styles in their band(s)

Sounds kinda blah. Just listened to a Friedman JJ 20 combo that sounds way better. This might need eq and a boost to really sound good.

Tbh it doesn’t sound that great. Quite fuzzy and thin. Cleans ok but nothing to shout about. If this was half the price I don’t think I’d opt for it. It’s simply the name in this instance you’re paying for. The sounds are rather sub par. Just my opinion. Nothing wrong with dagan’s playing though

To be fair this isn’t a great representation of the archon especially the higher gain. It’s a darker tone in general but really shines with the gain down mids boosted and an overdrive with no gain added tone boosted and level boosted

Yup, fuzzy and loose low end. A ton of gain, but so much fizz makes it muddy. I had a archon 50 combo and ended up returning it. Totally different beast from the mt 15 which I thought sounded a ton better. Replaced it with a evh 5150 iconic and it the total opposite of the Archon. Extremely tight and clear amp. And this is coming from a prs fanboy......

PRS means expensive, there are others amps just as good at half the price. I am sticking with the ones i have. as i only play clean, a lead channel is of no interest.
