Excellent in-depth explanation and demonstration of the features. It holds up really well against the core model in the comparison track. Lovely playing and fantastic tone there, channelling Mr. Grissom - exactly what was needed! I've got the Gold Top on order - hopefully due in about a month's time. I've never owned a PRS and I wasn't in the market for a new guitar, but the moment I saw David introduce it, I knew I had to get one!

Is this an exclusive colour or something? This is definitely not the Sunburst option you get from all retailers. It seems lighter round the edges! So much nicer! Almost a dark red instead of black! Only seen one other video with the DGT SE being this colour! I want it!

Loved the track n the fact the drums were loud and not the usual stuff where the guitar is in " front " and everything a mile behind ahaah... Great sounding pick ups ... i'm not a rosewood fan but i'd love to try one

Thanks for the in-depth look at the PRS SE DGT. Did you have to do any set-up issues when you first received the guitar? I purchased a sunburst version and needed to lower the action with a truss rod adjustment and even 'carefully' lowered the floating tremolo.

My question exactly. I’ve owned the 24-08 and I think they are fairly different. 24-08 is hotter and probably a little more versatile, this is like a Les Paul meets a strat

DGT sounds like gibson than any other prs, right?

@@JoonKimDMD: I own the DGT goldtop and own a Gibson Les Paul. The PRS can do the job of an LP, but they are quite different. The DGT pickups are way more "hifi" than the Gibson pickups. The bridge pickup especially. Reminds me more of Seymour Duncan than Gibson. Not better or worse, but different imo. I think the SE DGT pickups are absolute top quality.

Sounds lovely. Creamy tone. An electric guitar is a slab of wood. In this case mahogany and maple similar to les Paul but thinner. So tonally will be in that ballpark. There's subtle differences but most non playing people won't know nor care. You can always stick some different pickups in it and there are other locking tuners you could upgrade to. But out of the box this sounds like a great instrument at the price point.

PRS was very exacting in the DGT Neck contour. Had nothing to do with saving money. If you watch PRS's videos on their channel, almost an entire video discusses the neck contour.

The neck contour isn’t different per se, but the Core had a more rolled/rounded edge to the fretboard. Both felt good to me anyway!

Nice demo ! I noticed at the end, when you play the Core version that the tone is ever so slightly clearer, more "Tele-like"; I guess there is a difference indeed in the pickups. Does it justify the price x 4 ? I wouldn't think so... Unless you definitely prefer the faux-bone tuner buttons... ;-) Cheers Richard !

Thanks! I think I might have started with the bridge pickup volume slightly lower on the Core version, which will have made it cleaner & brighter. Didn’t realise until listening back now! I guess no two guitars sound the same anyway, but I didn’t find the SE electronics behaved radically differently to the Core.

Great demo! I will wait for these to hit the used market. I know I'll be replacing the pickups. I know a great aftermarket American-made set that matches Davids's pickups perfectly, despite all of PRS's high-tech work to make their pickups unique 🙄.

@SMSuperstrat All I know is the sound of the guitar on this video at the end is killer. I have a McCarty 594 and through my Boogie and Boss Blues Driver and taking some time to get the same sound, I could not quite get there. This pickup is like a hot Tele pickup and the breakup and tone on clip is amazing. I don't know how the Core version sounds in comparison but the sound in this video is amazing. Perhaps you don't like it which is fine as taste is personal preference

@Keef Richards like I said in my original answer. It's about how G&B pickups respond and play. I've played and built guitars way before youtube and the biggest thing with youtube or any other recording production is anything can sound good. The content providers that do the best at making mediocre guitars sound great to get the most guitars shipped to them to demo. So yes it may sound good on this demo, but my experience with this brand of pickup is they aren't that great.

PRS SE Pickups to me sounds too sharp. the high end out-put is too much; however, the DGT SE sound really warm which fit my preference.

Not trying to be pedantic here, but calling a vibrato bridge a "tremolo" is technically wrong. Leo Fender who was NOT a guitar player, bless his soul, called it that and sadly it was adopted by pretty much everybody. Same thing when "professional" reviewers call coil-split "coil tap", which are 2 completely different things.

Great demo! It would be nice if there was a custom option to get the fret types you want, in my case EVO Golds 57/110. Standard frets are usually too soft and will give you issues after a short time of playing. FWIW

PRS DGT US CORE is way better than Indonesian made SE. Putting DGT's name is just a marketing ploy. How many times did DGT use his Indonesian made SE??? Yeah, I thought so. And, yes, it's way cheaper. I own the US Core; worth every penny. (P.S. And this goes for all SE's. Grab the US Core or if budget is short, the S2; no regrets. Never the Indonesian.)
