Amazing video and just what I was looking for to send to my wife who new and learning how to use a reticle for PRS competition. Please continue with your content… To many on here talk over the heads of those new with zero long range or shooting background. It’s nice to see it broken down for those starting out. Most of them are to timid or don’t want to waist others time asking basic questions in a class setting.

Horus has something like it for the tremor 3 on their site. It's not perfect, and it's geared for wind dots instead of actual holds, but you can still plug that into a ballistic calculator and hold the mils in the tremor reticle.

Anyone whos looking for budget friendly option and a reticle with a similar design, the two I've used personally are the US Optics TS-20X with JVCR reticle, and the Primary Arms SLX with R Grid 2B reticle. You're not going to get Nightforce performance out of these scopes, so keep that in mind, but the JVCR and R Grid 2B are both solid tree reticles. I prefer the glass and turrets on the TS-20X in general, I prefer the Primary Arms SLX reticle for general use, especially with the Chevron, and the JVCR seems to do better at longer range shooting. I really like my SWFA 10x42 on my .243 AR10, but I'm strongly considering swapping to the PA SLX 4-16. Both scopes run a top mounted dot, which something you should also consider. Even for PRS. It makes acquiring sight picture at distance really fast, and if you're shooting anything inside of 300 yards, a 2 MOA dot touching your target will almost always net you a hit. On my 20" 5.56, with a height over bore of +4.5", the dot zeroed at 75 yds makes hitting out to 300 really quick. Not necessarily entirely related to the video, buy hopefully it'll help someone. 🤷‍♂️

I love this reticle. Have it on a NF ATACR 7-35x56. It enabled me to easily hit out over a mile for the first time. A lot of my other so called, "high end" scopes were good out til about 1,400-1,500 yards... but get out to a mile and things start to get blurry. Not the NF ATACR. I was able to easily spot my impacts at 1,785 yards with the NF ATACR with Mil-XT.
@equalleftrights3130
@equalleftrights3130 Жыл бұрын
I own 2 Atacrs because of the reticle and now I can't shoot anything else. Why would a high end or even a mid range priced optic get "blurry" at a mile or even 2000yds?? I have an old Vortex PST that gets to a mile at 12x just fine into a 2'x2' target. You need to learn how to correctly set parallax my friend and how to use 15x mag at most. I've heard even "pro" shooters claim to know how to set parallax, but when I check it, it's not properly set. The value of an optic has nothing to do with the range a shooter can hit. I've hit from 1200-2000yds with $400 optics just fine.
@rascalmatt6713
@rascalmatt6713 Жыл бұрын
@@equalleftrights3130 I know how to set parallax just fine. I've hit soda cans at 1,004 yards and 1,380 yards. The reticle that got blurry was the Steiner T5xi 5-25x56 with SCR reticle. The parallax knob broke. It's a KNOWN problem with Steiner and that line in particular. If you're shooting very small targets like i am, the clarity of the glass is very important. Especially when you factor in mirage when it's 90 plus degrees. When i hit the soda can at 1,380 yards there was so much mirage that i couldn't really make out my impacts on the white steel silhouette behind the soda can. It was only when i hit the neck a second time and had two impacts close together that i could actually see, make the correct adjustment and hit the can on the very next shot. Setting parallax is about as easy as it gets. You adjust until the target is as clear as possible and BINGO... you're all set. I was using the NF ATACR when i hit the soda can at 1,380 and like i said, with the mirage, it was very difficult to spot impacts at that distance. You could have moved the parallax around all you want but it's a whole new ball game with mirage in the desert and a 15 mph 90 degree crosswind.
@equalleftrights3130

@@rascalmatt6713 Like I said, learn to set parallax. Its not just like you described at all. You missed one very important part that If I say what it is, you'd then say. "Oh yeah, I forgot, I did that when I hit a q tip at 1800yds". There's 3 adjustments involved in setting parallax not just one. As for the scope, you said it was DEFECTIVE. How would any more mag. help there? Anyone that needs to use more than 12-15x mag at any distance, should first learn the basics. Field of view is very important when shooting with wind, for one reason, to spot your misses.
@rascalmatt6713
@rascalmatt6713 Жыл бұрын
@@equalleftrights3130 Look, you sound like a a real head case. Any and every good scope comes with directions. There's no secret outside of the manufacturers directions for "setting parallax". When you first get the scope, you adjust the diopter. The higher end scopes have locking diopters, which is a nice feature. Parallax knobs for the most part aren't exact, the numbers on the knob are more of a reference, which is why i said you adjust until the desired target is as clear as possible. So of course, this may not match your range/reading on your range finder exactly. That's it and there's no other "magical secret" that i'm aware of and if i'm able to hit soda cans in 3 shots or less beyond 1,000 yards i think i'm good. In fact, i'm 100% convinced that i don't need any of your help. Via Con Dios, you annoying child. i've had to hold 10.2 mils for wind at 735 yards shooting 5.56 77 grain OTM's so i know all about wind smart ass. You sound like an annoying little "know it all" child who thinks they know everything and no one else has a clue, when in fact they don't realize that 99% of the people around them already know what they know.

Are you talking dialing elevation, it dialing wind?
@rothgyr4360
@rothgyr4360 2 жыл бұрын
Assuming elevation: get a ballistic calculator like strelok, and a chronograph. Once you have your speed and ballistic coefficient plugged into strelok, your elevation should be on at distance. For windage, watch where your bullet misses, use your reticle to measure his far off you were, and add that to your wind hold. I hope that answers your questions - feel free to ask for more clarification.

For PRS, the MIL-XT. The .2 windage marks on the tremor 3 are all the same and extremely fine on the T3. If it requires too much brain processing on the clock, it's keeping you from being able to think about wind, what side of the plate you're hitting, etc. The more you can automate/speed up your mental game in PRS, the more success you'll have. MIL-XT has distinct, easy to see .2 marks. Personal opinion - JVCR, PR2, MIL-XT, and ebr-7c/d are the best PRS reticles for these reasons.
