If 1k was my budget and I had to go with something brand new from a major manufacturer than I would honestly go with the Schecter Sunset extreme or Sterling Jason Richardson. I feel like out of all the 1k guitars (using Sweetwater as my retail of choice) those 2 guitars offer the best features in the price point for my money.

@@RequiemDead I have a sunset triad 6 string from schecter and it is my go to guitar for the most part! Almost everything I have tried from schecter in the 1k or higher range has been solid. I haven’t personally got along with the EBMM guitars I have tried, but I also don’t typically use trem systems often. If I had a little more money to spend the Schecter Tao John Browne might be my target guitar.

i got a c7 apocalypse and honestly it’s shit for the price they’re going for. I wish I got something else. Schecter is way over hyped

damn that sucks. The silver mountain and reaper models I payed were pretty solid, I almost snagged the reaper! TBH though, I had a cheaper c-7 deluxe that was clunky and the Damien 8 string I had for minute was a plank of wood. Schecter definitely doesn’t get everything on point.

@@BaritoneGoatStudio I wish schecter still made the e7 apocalypse, an affordable 7 string explorer with modern features is almost impossible to find

Can confirm the Mark Holcomb is a fucking monster. It has a faaaaaat ass neck. If you want an Ibanez wizard neck, the PRS is not gonna be your cup of tea, but the pickups sound incredible and its a PRS so you know it plays well and theres nothing wrong withit The 20" fretboard radies feels crazy flat, but once you get used to it, it feels like you have soooo much room on the fretboard

It is a killer guitar and it is one that plays better as I get used to the neck. I like fat necks, but I also don’t have a strong preference on thickness. Both are worth having, I just think the run of the mill person looking to get a 7 would likely get along with the Ibanez quicker, but the pickups on the Holcomb are top notch.

I just recently got a Mark Holcomb from earlier on in the run with the Walnut top and Alpha and Omega pickups and I really like the thing. I've generally been playing it through my real amps, although I have played it through amp Sims a bit and I even like it there. I don't see too much of a reason for why the Scarlet/scourge need to be made cuz I have zero gain on my interface and I'm still in a great range for the Alpha and Omega set. Although I do want to try the other set still.
@BaritoneGoatStudio
@BaritoneGoatStudio Ай бұрын
@@jackbootshamangaming4541 the differences seem subtle, I know the alpha/omega set is higher resistance, but that doesn’t mean louder always. I dig the change in color, and I like the matte black pickup covers. The OG Holcomb guitars are a steal when they pop up used!

@BaritoneGoatStudio yea I paid 750 which is just like 480~ for the guitar except the pups, as they're like 280 themselves. I'd love to get a new one with the new pickups you can buy the new pickups I've noticed but they don't come with the cover which is cool cuz I'd love to fit them in an Ormsby but I would also love to have the cover

Scarlet/scourge aren't meant to be an "upgrade", they are just meant to be a different sound. I think mark called them more "wild" and pushy or smth like that in comparison.

Definitely warmer sounding tone on the prs but the ibanez has way more punchy balls on it ❤as in , i wouldn't be playing Meshuggah on the prs 😂❤❤

If I was sticking around Drop A for around the 1k mark 100% my pick would be a Sterling Richardson model. Best 7 string neck I've felt personally with the roasted maple. But if I was going to go into lower tunings I'd look into a longer scale. I'd love to try a Juggernaut HT7 pro series, but I'd probably lean towards Schecter. I'm just comfortable with them. I tried a Sunset Triad 7 earlier this year and thought it was awesome.

Of those 2...I'd rather pay just a hair more for a Schecter Banshee 7 or the SLS Evil Twin 7. Or a Solar 7. But of these two...I'd get the PRS. Much prefer the stock pickups and I think Ibanez necks run a little thin.
@BaritoneGoatStudio
@BaritoneGoatStudio Ай бұрын
Extremely thin! If I had the scratch to add another $500 I would grab the Schecter Tao John Browne. It is a guitar I am targeting in the future! I also want a Solar too, but I am looking at a 6 string evertune model possibly 27”.

The LTD MT7 was a toss up with the Ibanez when got it. I am a fan of bolt on necks and Gotoh hardware. If the LTD had a Gratptech nut it would have probably been my choice. Both guitars play well.
@47ravenlord

@BaritoneGoatStudio I put Graphtech nuts on all of my guitars using nothing but a $20 file set from Amazon. I am an Ibanez fanboy, I will admit that, and I understand your choice, lol. The neck on the LTD just blew me away, it was perfect, for my hands at least. I also REALLY like guitars with single bridge humbuckers and that solo Blackened Black Winter pickup sounds amazing. I thought I was going to swap it for a Retribution, but I actually ended up keeping it :P
