I don’t see why people don’t like this bass. This is obviously a jazz bass-inspired bass, and I think it’s an improvement over a jazz bass. It’s got a neck through construction, Hipshot hardware, 22 frets instead of the normal 20, and the tone is nice and bitey with a solid punch to it. Awesome demo and playing, guys! Do a PRS Kingfisher if you can!

I’ve owned my Kestrel for a few months now and a part from my five string, it’s the only bass I use. PRS knocked it out of the park with this bass and for the price point it can’t be beat!

I had the chance of trying this bass and I was absolutely blown away. Any video can make justice to this. It feels so good in hands and makes you play so well... I might be in the line of the Yamaha BB made in Japan but more affordable. Seriously, they are being overlook and they are fan-tas-tic.

I am digging the sound and feel of mine two things I am noticing is that it seams the bridge is put back to far and as a result it will not come into proper intonation because the saddles don't have the room to move forward enough. The other thing more of an annoyance is the pickgaurd picks up scratches from anything, the vinyl is just too soft.

@alexmurphy52896 жыл бұрын
I don't understand this. It's a paul Reed Smith guitar... The birds are part of the package. It's just an asthetic, do you have issues finding your way around the fretboard or something? Because inlays are your last worry if that's the case. Go buy a cheaper bass instead.... This bass is nothing special other than the name anyways
@bluejeans54566 жыл бұрын

Seems like a nice bass but I can’t help wondering whether they’ll make such a big impact in the bass world as they have in the guitar world. They took an approach to the guitars that sort of forced their way in which many other makers attempted to follow. The bass world already has, and always had, extremely high quality niche makers so there’s not room for PRS to take the same approach to basses. To make any headway the basses have to be faultless, reasonably priced and very flexible tone wise. Probably need a few name players to be seen with them too. Best of luck.

I bought this same bass in Sunburst five years ago. A very BEAUTIFUL instrument! But I had MAJOR problems with mine! First problem was that the neck pickup was bad. It completely stopped working. I sent the instrument back to Sweetwater to have PRS replace it. After I got it back which was about five weeks later, THAT pickup went bad as well! So I had to wait another five or six weeks to have THAT one replaced too! Second problem I had was that after about a year and a half or so, an extreme bow had developed in the neck! It was SO BAD that the truss rod could barely be turned any further! Even after the neck was somewhat straight, it still ran in a cockeyed S formation along the length. In short… The neck was COMPLETELY shot!! Totally WARPED!! And I don’t store my instruments in extreme atmospheric conditions either. Perhaps I might have just gotten a lemon…But in my opinion, this is UNACCEPTABLE from a company like PRS!! And it’s because of those two major problems that I will NEVER buy another PRS bass again!!

Cool demo, but PRS should stick to guitars. They're not doing anything special. Fender already has this covered, at probably half the price.
