I tried an SE Silver Sky a couple months ago at GC after seeing your previous videos about it. It was love at first strum. After stewing on it for about 2 weeks I picked up a used one on Reverb for $500. I play bass in a country band and sub in for our guitarists when one of them can't make a gig. This is my new go-to gig guitar. Thanks Tim!

I love the way you get drowned into your instrument, talking about it with som much love. I've been playing acoustic for 50+ years, just recently bought me an electric PRS SE Silver Sky. Although Acoustic will always be my first love I know this PRS SE SS will make me love electric... Thus I have to start a harem. Thanks for your great and enthusiastic review. It taught me a lot Peace from Amsterdam, Netherlands

The neck on the se silver sky is really comfortable. So true about smoothing out overtime. I can’t get enough of this instrument. I also play a ce 24. With the pattern thin neck. But the silver sky won’t let me be.🤪

Picked one up about a year ago. Already had the upgraded locking tuners and the slim profile truss rod cover. Admittedly don’t play as much electric as I should/could. But will pull this one out and put it through some “neck conditioning” and get accustomed to it. Thanks Happy New Year!!

When I bought my Silver Sky the SE model was only available with the rosewood fingerboard (which I personally hate), so I did get the US model with a maple fretboard. And playing S-type guitars since 1974, I do not at all regret its price point. I had several S-type guitars in the 3-6k range that were not as good. It is amazing how close the SE model sounds, other than the lack of locking tuners and relatively minor differences in the pickup voicing (and I would not consider the SE pickups worse, just slightly more aggressive, which is definitely helping with driven sounds)... I would most likely be just as happy with the SE (now that maple is an option).

I've been interested in this guitar for a bit because I wanted to get a guitar with 3 single coils and a maple neck/maple fingerboard. Like your video, many of the other ones I have seen mentioned the issue with the frets and sometimes the tuners. So, I just ordered the purple version from Sweetwater, requested a Pleck, bone nut, PRS locking tuners to be installed, tuned to Eb. I probably won't have it for a few weeks yet but am excited to get it! I think I have seen enough info on videos for me to know what kinks to iron out. I have gotten Pleck's on new guitars before and have been very pleased with the results.

Got my lefty Storm Gray SE a few weeks ago. Had to make a small truss rod adjustment for some relief - the strings bend so effortlessly now. Other than that, it does all the things my younger self wished my old '05 MiM Strat could do. John and the PRS team really knocked it out with these guitars

Hey Tim, the guitar sounds great! Discovered you a few months ago, what a great and refreshing take on both playing and showing behind the scenes content w band and touring life. what's your settings on your Amp and the tumnus pedal?
@TimAvenMusic2 ай бұрын
Hey Terry, thanks for watching and I'm glad you're enjoying it! Amp wise i move it around a lot so I don't have a good solid answer. I love to have it just warm enough and I tend to run the pre amps volumes lower than the master to get it cleaner. As for the tumnus I have the volume at 9 o'clock drive at 11 0'clock and tone to taste depending on which guitar I'm using. Hope this helps!

I have this exact same guitar, I can get the neck pickup to sound awesome or the bridge pickup to sound awesome but not both balanced at the same time. Any chance you'd be able to share your pickup heights?

Honestly I’m not sure at all what they are! I haven’t changed it from the factory. The best advice I could give is maybe try measuring it where it’s at then just start moving it and see if you find a position you like better. I hope this helps!

What would you say the sound difference is. Between the SS se and your fender Stratocaster. I’m looking for a warmer sounding Strat .

I have a DGT SE and it feels and plays very nice. I recently ordered a Player II HSS Strat and it needed a new nut right off the bat. The first string was buzzing badly. So I sent it back and I'm strongly considering a SE Silver Sky to replace it. I guess if you can play the guitar before you buy it, you'll have a better experience than I did. I ordered mine from Sweetwater. Hope this helps!

So unoriginal, they copy Fender. That says a lot.
@TomCPlus12 ай бұрын
"original" has been done, buy a unique guitar if that's what you want. The Silver Sky was designed specifically to honor a great initial take, while making some subtle improvements to playability and sound. The pickups and the satin neck are my two favorite elements. Sounds and plays better than my two other Strats (American Deluxe, and a stock Mexican), and the price was right (Sweetwater demo, looks mint).
@TimAvenMusic2 ай бұрын
I agree with you Tom!
@rickmoss70405 күн бұрын
Such an ignorant and fanboy thing to say. John Mayer WENT TO PRS, and had PRS build a guitar off of HIS recommendations. So to say they copied, is just stupid. PRS quality, tuning stability, overall attention to detail, and bang for your buck, craps on everything else out there. If you do any research, you will see there is WAY more different on the silver sky, than there is that are the same…typical fanboy vomit. You are so far off, but what else do people expect…and I do not even own a Silver Sky…
@alan4sure5 күн бұрын
@@rickmoss7040 apparently he wanted something very reminiscent of a classic Fender guitar body then. My mistake.
