So here’s the deal. ‘64 strat = $10k plus and that’s player grade. Thank you Paul, thank you John for working extremely hard to build something that’s achievable for the playing musician. I support this, why? Because I want to support hard working people plus the excitement of a new guitar is always welcomed. As for John, well, I’m a Deadhead, haven’t always been but it found me like it found John. I say, let’s stop hating, let’s love a little more and if PRS and JM come out with a signature model and it ruffles your feathers, well jump in the shower and scream about it, you don’t need to voice it to the world, just don’t buy it. We live in a world of way too many opinions. To the hardworking PRS team..well done everyone. Thank you for the love. Excited to get my hands on one. PS. John, congrats. Jerry would be proud. I’ve followed u around with the Dead. I knew the minute you were announced to fill that role that it would be special. You have taken me to places that I’ve never been before and for that I’m always gonna support you, good and bad. No bad here brother, proud of the man you are growing into. We are all growing, why not grow together

So here is a deal.. 60th Anniversary USA Strat with commemorative hard case $700 US. Another deal - 2013 American Standard Strat w/Tweed case. $895 And yet another deal....Fender American Deluxe Strat $1100 Add a nice '65 Twin Reverb re-issue and a Tube Screamer? About $2000-2300 Then you will have the tone, and a great player guitar... just like John Mayer loves!

Thunder Buddy I agree with you completely, great guitars, I own many. I think it’s more about the ethical standpoint and the fact that Fender have completely lost touch with who they are. I own a few vintage strats, worked super hard to get them but the guitars today are no where near the quality as Leo’s. I understand time moves forward and production has to grow but the shortcuts are embarrassing. Not here to argue with anyone, I just feel options are cool. Go play the PRS, I would love to know what you think. Again, I just want to point out that I do NOT believe that PRS are any better or worse than Fender, it’s just different.

So bad a**! Can't wait to try one! I bought a USA custom 24 two years ago, my dream guitar, and I absolutely love it, just as much as my fender elite strat! Both do different things, and do them very well. I can't wait to see what Paul and John have done to this beast!

Quite mixed about this guitar, I still have to figure out if I love or hate the look of that headstock with a strat-esque body as well as those colors. Anyway, can't wait to have the possibility to try one!

I like how the truss rod cover matches the tungsten . You should make red, black and white to match the other body colors.

It will be interesting if this Guitar catches on.I would like to see a Hard tail model to bring production costs down as well as material for lower cost.People purchase PRS Guitars for there quality not for a GUITAR THAT SOUNDS LIKE A STRAT

I believe they have been doing the same thing at the Fender plants since 1954. Explain why a PRS S2 is $1499 when it incorporates more tech has more expensive woods and set neck. This guitar is made of less expensive Alder with a bolt neck and the price is about $2300. $800 more?? makes not sense!

I see J Mayer supports several environmental causes -- why did he select an endangered rain forest wood for the fingerboard? If he thinks he needs it 'for tone' then show us true guitar skillz by playing and promoting a more appropriate local wood species. And fans traveling with his guitar will not be subjected to CITES paperwork hassles, the fear of potential guitar confiscation, nor anxiety about travel delays (so make it clearly look different than rosewood/ebony).
