In terms of the ES line I'm a custom 24-08 fan for its versatility, but I must admit that this guitar has the best tone I've hear from an SE. If you close your eyes you can imagine being listening to a record player from the 50's

Picked up this exact guitar yesterday. It’s incredible. For anyone wondering whether the SE versions can hang with the S2, it absolutely does. I have an S2 thinline McCarty double cut and this is every bit as nice, just a shallower carve on the top. The custom 24 SEs aren’t quite as nice as my S2 custom 24 but these SE McCartys are something else. Insane quality for the money.

Guitar Center is obviously on thin ice . If nothing else PRS will have to “ Fine” G.C. For charging more or charging for the gig bag separately. I feel the same way . For the folks that shop online ( I imagine it’s @ least 60-70 percent) I would pass G.C. , and get my PRS from one of dozens of online retailers!

Just bought this exact guitar today. Got it brand new for way under normal asking price. Fantastic piece of kit! I know I’m probably in the minority here but I find the carve on the S2 hideous. It makes the guitar look like a cheaper version of the SE.

@@Driftuner kind of mind boggling that they would spend the extra hours of labor and materials for the small percentage of people that actually like it. I usually take some 2000 grit sandpaper to remove some of it

@@im58woody satin doesnt cost any more than gloss paint. The oil is just applied to the wood differently than the paint. The guitar gets "stained" instead of "painted", that doesnt cost any more than paint. And in my experience, all guitarists i personally know prefer a satin neck, every single time a company brings out a guitar with a satin neck absolutely everyone on the internet praises them for doing it. So i dont know what are you talking about when you say "small percentage", specially when you admit to sand down the neck yourself...?!....

SC = single cut… ie the body type of the guitar regardless of what range it may lie in. SE = student edition… the budget range of the PRS line up. Fender to squire, PRS to SE. PRS has core, S2 and SE ranges in their line up. Hope this helps if you haven’t already figured it out!

Are you referring to the Back Gold version ? If so, it has a maple cap, otherwise the same specs.
