This is a bloody good design, makes it a lot more simple than my amp to bias. Cracking vid.

Why doesn't every amp mfg. make it this easy? Good job, PRS!

I have a MT-15 amp and I’ve been wanting to change my tubes and even bias it myself. I’ve seen some videos from others doing it on different amps that make it seem rather challenging, but this video here really gave me a sigh of relief. PRS did a fantastic job for ease of access with the MT-15!!!

I love this little-known feature on my PRS amp. I don't have to remove the chassis and worry about being exposed to possible deadly high voltages or taking it to a tech like many other common tube amps require. A great DIY feature that saves you time and money.

How about a video on how to properly change the tubes without getting killed by electrocution???

What formula do you use to get the AVERAGE of 4 different output tube biasing currents?

Hey there, many of PRS amps rarely use a power and standby switcher separately, like any other amps, except the MT15, how do you guys turn the switch on/off properly, like how to warm up and cool down the amp, until the high voltage to totally drain out of the electrolytic capacitors (also how long) How long does it take for a tube to warm up and cool down, in standby mode, and until we can safely remove the power cable from power wall? And a little tips to facing voltage volatility (ups and downs) from the power wall, is that also safe to plug in for exp. the MT100 to power conditioner first, before the power wall? Or it’s just fine to plug the amp directly to power wall

I have a PRS Custom 20.. what should the bias be for that amp.

I bought this exact amp yesterday. I realized my particular amp runs VERY hot after an hour or so of play time. The back plate is hot to the touch and after I unplugged my cables from the effects loop the ends were warm to the touch. Is this normal? Could it be the result of my tubes bias being too hot?

Thanks in advance. I have the older Paul Reed Smith SE 30 30 watt 5881 power tube amplifier head/ I have no idea what the bias settings are for this amp. I looked every where on the internet/ There is no writing on the back of the amp by the bias points to indicate the milli- volt settings. Does anyone know what the settings are? and if I swap out the Tung Sol 5881 for Svetlana 6L6 power tubes , what would be the difference. Thanks so much. JL

Did all of this and mine still hums really loud. Sounds like the transformer or the speaker. So bummed, took weeks to get it and it sounds terrible. It is easy to set the bias, which mine brand new was off. Gonna send this one back. Not sure if I want a replacement or just a different amps. Super disappointed. Now I have to pack it up and ship it back to Sweetwater. And it's heavy.

This is inaccurate. Make sure you turn your amp on for at least 20 minutes to get it up to normal operating temperature! Cold biasing is inaccurate!

Does anybody know if the test leads are measuring plate or cathode current?
@Steeve1084 ай бұрын
it should be cathode coz it's safer being low mV current

@@Steeve108how is it safer? Plate current is more accurate.
