Thank you Wade, Chris, and George for a very informative and educational video on something I am interested in and would like to venture into outside of my orchids and bonsai, the world of carnivorous plants.

2:42 Nepenthes are NOT bog plants. Most of these things are epiphytes and trying to grow them in bog like conditions will soon lead to root rot

What a superb specimen plant! So much bigger than my Miranda. Obviously it loves the conditions you grow it in. Hello Chris 😀 By the way, nepenthes plants are either male or female. They are not self fertile so you aren't ever going to get seed pods unless you get two plants of the opposite sex that happen to flower at the same time. Nice tutorial on propagation! Happy growing!

Will the main plant continue to grow normally after being cut?
@wadesorchids72193 жыл бұрын
The main plant has done fine. However, only one of the cuttings has grown roots.

I just bought this kind of plant and I am trying to find info on it. Strange question, is it okay to take it outside and hang it in my outdoor patio on warm muggy days?

I bought one at a nursery and it was dried out. The merchant told me to take it home and soak it and fill each pitcher with water 1/4 of the way with bottled water. I used reverse Osmosis water. Will my plant be ok?

That will probably work fine. Especially if they get like mine where they are pot bound. These are bog plants and bogs usually have standing water.
@vivimannequin2 жыл бұрын
@@wadesorchids7219 these things are not bog plants. Putting them in standing water will kill them since like orchids the roots need to breathe
@nyccookie90704 жыл бұрын
You said but a bag over the plant ? Does this really help
@wadesorchids72194 жыл бұрын
Nyc Cookie this keeps the humidity high around the plant. The higher the humidity is, the less moisture lost from the plant’s pores.

It’s spelled nepenthes no “a”. They have male and female plants. You have to have both to pollinate. The water is fine if it’s under 100. But anyway, love the video. Thank you!
