Super informative and nice demo. I really love your larch compositions - very delicate and individualistic. Looks like hard work on the eyes searching for buds - especially with the number of trees you have. What a labour of love!

Very true about bud hunting - takes a long time :)

Great timing - I just took all the thick branches on my larch taking them basically back to new growth. Disclaimer: they were nursery stock last year so only first year in development and I didn't want anything thick near the top yet. I had zero fear that it won't be the right move for the future but still nice to see you doing big cuts on yours now too.

They are such strong trees for this sort of pruning. Glad to hear you are on the same wavelength :)

My favourite species, the colour when they start new growth is spectacular, I like the two trees together Xav a good in depth pruning exercise will prove useful, I have mine to prune later this week so will be looking closely for branches that are not needed. The large group of three looks really good after pruning my friend, a lot of the time with larch I tend to pull the new excess foliage off instead of cutting not sure it matters either way. All the best my friend, all we need now is some decent weather or this summer is going to pass us by wondering we’re winter ended and summer started.

Excellent! I do have a question though. Most of the forests I in nature have the trees all going straight up, but we don't have larch here do they grow to the side a little bit like that?
@XaviersBonsaiRetreat3 ай бұрын
Truthfully...probably not. Most of ours all grow straight up as well.

When would you start pruning your larches after a major repot?
@XaviersBonsaiRetreat3 ай бұрын
It depends on how well they respond and push out shoots. This is really about observation rather than a strict timeline. I have had freshly repotted larch push out loads of growth...so i have pruned them back. Others have sulked all year and I have waited until the following spring :)

Hello Xav. New subscriber from UK. Did you prune your Larches in July? Am I too late to prune now in August? Have you ever grown Larch from a cone? I have two on my Larch and would like to try.
@XaviersBonsaiRetreatАй бұрын
If you watch one of my earlier larch videos i talk about pruning Larch three time through the year. Yes - i am still pruning my larch with a hope of getting a final flush before autumn. I have pruned as late as late into August. I also have two succesful germinated seeds from my bonsai larch. Definitely give that a try :)

So beautiful to watch 😍 Love your trees. They influenced my decision not to give up on larches. As you know, I did not had much luck with them (2 up to now 😅), nevertheless my little future Ent came back to life, thanks to your support, and sprouts out heavily meanwhile. 👍 Maybe treat him like your 3 year olds and sort out some of the branches that develop from same place? 😄 Thanks Xavier ❤ Bet lost by the way 😘 Enjoy your day 🙏 Cheers 🙋♀️ Martina
