What is a bud? You are cutting 3 leaves out?

I am developing about a dozen apple trees in this form at my place in NYS. It's quite enjoyable. When you check the laterals on the scaffolds/arms, how are you expecting shortened laterals to develop? Do we want their buds to throw more shoots, or to develop primarily fruiting spurs? Many thanks.

Vincent Esposito We leave short spurs for fruit development.

Dave Wilson Nursery In fact, future growth from the short spurs will be checked back through the growing season.

Hi, Very beautiful tree. I would like to do this espaliered fruit tree to our Apricot, Apple and Nectarine. They are in a row. can I do that? Please advice.Thank you.
@DaveWilsonTrees9 жыл бұрын
Usha Balachandra Yes you can, easier with young trees. Build support system, cut back to basic trellis form in winter. Work new growth onto support. I would highly recommend you look for more video assistance. Maybe even Google espalier styles and structuring for more detail.
