In this video you'll find my process of hydrangea pruning - I'm showing how to prune hydrangea paniculata Limelight and Vanilla Fraise (young plants and older ones) and smooth hydrangea Annabelle. This way of pruning gets me huge flowers every year.

Excellent information. I’ve rooted three new hydrangeas and they are doing great. My original plant is very old and not producing many flowers. I had two blooms this year. I plan to cut it back hard in the spring. There is so many dead limbs and leaves in it. I’m just hoping it comes back. Maybe it’s to old but I don’t want to lose it. Thanks for sharing. I’d love to hear about how you began your garden.

I'm not as brave as you with cutting my incredible hydrangeas back. Last year I did a heavy prune like you and they flopped so much, almost laying on the ground at times. This year I just cut off the old blooms and super thin twigs. I'll see how they behave this year. 😊

Thanks for posting . Your garden is beautiful and I appreciate you creating an english version . I garden in Texas which is a different zone but we have some similar plants , I have Oak leaf hydrangeas that I rarely prune and their flowers and leaves give amazing fall colors .

Disappointed with your comment. I've lived in England for 37years and find Marta's English of a very high standard. Also asked my English husband to listen Marta's pronunciation of 'usually' and he found it to be correct. Maybe you're in a part of England where the accent changes the sound of words....
