Thank you! I usually cover the ground with new mulch every so often to prevent weeds. This year I haven't had a chance to do it but it requires regular weeding...:)

Beautiful video’s you have with even more Beautiful trees!! I love the japanese maples, such wonderful trees. I hope you can help me out with something. I just recently bought a small maple from the garden center and placed it in my garden. I think it has had to much sun, because all the leaves have just been sort of scorched/ shrunk. Im really emberassed. I bought two and the other seems to be doing a bit better than the other one. Where do I place my maples? Are they really just trees for the shade? And what about fertilizing ed? I moved them to the shade a couple of days ago and luckaly the bigger is making new leaves. They still are small trees, no bigger than 10 inches and I keep them in pots. Please, any advice is welcome. Thanks alot.

Heyo, just passing by but had the same problem as you a while back. Yeah most maples from what I know prefer partial shade, so if it’s crisping, moving it where you did probably helped if the plant is shooting up new unblemished leaves. You can fertilize when the plant is healthy and actively growing, but if you want to make them bonsai like here they will need to be fertilized differently than a regular tree, probably need to google some stuff about the variety your maple tree is, check out more of their videos maybe?

They can take full sun in early-mid spring but you may want to move them under partial shade during late spring / summer to protect them. :) The strategy for applying fertilizers depends on what you want to archive. If you want it to just grow fast and thicken the trunk, you can apply it with high nitrogen OR if you want the tree to get more energy but want to steadily grow, something like bio gold will provide the right amount of nutrients to the tree. Hope this helps!

Another great video. I have a Maple tree which was a sapling in July 2000 given to me by my Dad. I'm trying now to Bonsai it down to about the size of an Acer. It's appeared in my last few video updates and doing very well. Before, it was in a large pot at about 3 meters / 14 feet tall or so mainly in my 2018/19 videos.
