Excitied for the future too. Seeing, then explaining & showing what you're doing and why....has always been your strong point, and is why I've subscribed as many years that I have. Thanks Nigel.

This tree looks good. Remember that mature Brazilian Rain trees develop a twisted trunk. They are beautiful bonsai subjects. Loved all the bonsai updates. Thanks for your videos. Always a pleasure to watch.

I like the idea to look on pictures of the species mature and natural growing in the wild and get inspired. Some just buy trees and style single one of them as they was pines.

Love watching these. Just a wealth of information. Normally I actually watch a few videos of yours in a day (recent and a few old ones). Hope the kitties are doing good. Bet they are bigger now. Update: kitties are bigger and mum hasn't got her tounge hanging out her mouth. Super

I have a Sophora Japonica which in appearance is quite similar to the BRT. A few years ago I tried taking cuttings and defoliated them. Zero success.. not one of them struck roots. I didn't persevere.. but I suppose I should try again this time with the leaves, and in the propagator for high humidity so there is less transpiration. Someday I'll try to acquire a BRT, they are not common here. Anyway, glad to see your new Scots Pine looking so healthy!

Missed the Live video. I happened to see you are doing Black and Honey Locust. Are you starting from seed? I once came across a Honey Locust that had 3 foot long thorns that had thorns ramified all along the 3 feet. The thornless varieties are call Inermis which is simply Latin for thornless.

Hi Nigel....I wanted to know How old is this tree now? Obviously U must have grown it from seed. I have also just got a Seedling of this tree and I am very curious to know that.

My Brazilian rain tree is also is bad shape post repot. While it has not dried, the leaves seem to curl up soon after sunrise - this is something typical post sunset. Keeping my fingers crossed.

I really like the type of leaves of the BRT! The tree looks so light and elegant already. How is your Ginkgo doing? On the track of recovery, I hope.

Thanks, the Ginkgo didn't make it, it got attacked by boring insects and never recovered.

@uppergorple2 жыл бұрын
@@TheBonsaiZone Thanks for your time Nigel. I bought this NIP, labelled as 'araucaria heterophilia', out of curiosity. After I chopped it back it did produce new shoots, so a possible bonsai. Then googling showed up your past videos and I noticed the difference in needle distribution. Further googling led to confusion...

Hi Nigel love that BRT. I know that you recently started a Ming Aralia. Will directional pruning work on that species? Thanks for all your great advice..

Yes, but they tend to grow vertical, it's just the characteristic of these trees. Vertical branches and cascading foliage!

hi nigel. ive never seen anyone wiring the tree like that. can you explain the method? i dont understand it
@TheBonsaiZone2 жыл бұрын
This tree had no surface roots to hold it in the pot, so wire was brought up from the drainage holes and wrapped around the trunk to hold the tree in place. This can be done to Jades too as they have very little roots and are very top heavy.

Great work. Recently i have found a shape of tree i really like. Google for Indonesia sumba dancing mangrove. I think it is almost impossible to get this species of tree. Let alone to take care of it in german climate. Do you have an idea, in your seemingly endless tree wisdom, which tree could form a similar shape to these magnificent dancing mangroves. Best regards
