I'm pruning my "Little Cedar Spirit Tree", a Thuja occidentalis, root over rock planting. I've allowed this tree to grow for the whole summer and today I'm pruning it as a possibility for the upcoming fall bonsai shows.

This meticulous pruning brings out the beauty of this tree. After the cleanup of the landscape and showing the roots, this is one fantastic display. Excellent video!!!

Wow. This tree has such wonderful movement and character. The roots over the rock are so natural. I love it.

I live not to far from the Spirit Tree along the shores of Lake Superior and have seen it. This is a beautiful planting, nice work.

While camping in northern NH this weekend, I saw a tiny peninsula sticking out into a clear isolated lake. There was a spruce with two trunks in the middle of the peninsula and one lone maple tree at the end. I got a picture of it, and definitely want to use it as a springboard to a penjing!!

Great little tree! Even in it's "disheveled" state, it looks great. For those of you looking for cheap starter trees, take a walk along train tracks. You will find plenty of young trees and even some established ones. Just be careful... trains are on those tracks.

As I follow your videos on Eastern White Cedar I am applying your information/techniques to Pacific Red Cedars (Thuja plicata)...They seem very similar...I'm growing a couple Specimen tress and two forests with trees between 1" to 9"...This over rock composition looks great and very natural...Looking forward to watching its progress...Thanks for sharing...
