Pruning with a Reciprocating Saw

How to use a reciprocating saw to prune shrubs. Advantages and disadvantages of using the saw for pruning. And yes, I should have worn safety glasses, gloves, and tied up my hair. Also, Lee Valley makes a recip saw blade specifically for pruning.

Nice video. That is a heavy duty saw there. A lighter reciprocating saw would be easier to use. Also, the sawzall is much safer and easier to get into tight spaces than a chainsaw. It also has an advantage over a pruning saw in tight spaces because the blade is so thin.

Recommend gloves, safety glasses, and tying up that hair when dealing with heavily branched shrubs and trees.

there are a lot of reciprocating saw options for pruning...they are way lighter that use lithium batteries and cheaper than that dewalt and will do the job fine....Ryobi is a good example

Just bought the Black & Decker reciprocal saw for tree trimming...weight is important..as is safety ..

Thanks for sharing you thoughts. Video is now a bit outdated. There lots a lighter reciprocating saws. Some can be used with one hand.

Having used many different manufactures recip saws, brand does not matter one iota. Are you aware the proper blade is considerably more important than the reciprocating saw manufacture? Keep in mind she graciously is sharing a concept, thus leave out your manufacture bias it is inappropriate.
