The 20v Dewalt Reciprocating saw is an awesome tool for any nursery owner or homeowner. It can be used to cut steel, wood, plastic, demolition work of most any kind, and even be used to heavily prune ornamental trees. Also known as a Sawzall (because it "saws all"), this do it all tool comes in handy even for unconventional uses like tree pruning.

I’ve been years trying to figure out what tool I could use to take care of unwanted brush and small trees-this is the ticket! Thank you sir!

That would be a "de"struction tool not a "con"struction tool.

I use the a ryobi saw just like this one but for dividing daylillies, ornamental grasses, verigated lirope and other plants. You do go through the blades pretty fast doing this but I always have extra on hand.

Never used it for that. What kind of blade are you using for that?

@@savvydirtfarmer I've only tried the wood blade and it works good, they do dull fast so make sure to change or it will be rough on your saw motor.

3:56 “There’s a reason it’s called a sawzall” He says of his DeWalt Recip. That’s a facepalm moment right there 😂. Like calling all cars Ford. He does acknowledge the misnomer, but then why do it at all then? Tip: Keep the shoe pressed against the wood for less vibration. Anyhow..pretty good demo vid I thought👍

In my neck of that woods, that tool, regardless of manufacturer, is referred to as a "sawzall." All reciprocating saws are sawzalls in my vernacular.

Good morning! I was needing to wack off one quarter inch from the bottom of a metal clad exterior door. I have the compact version of your DeWalt, 20V Sawzall but I needed to make a very clean, straight cut along the bottom of the door. A Sawzall IS primarily a "demolition tool". I also have a very nice 20V DeWalt circular saw but I knew I would need a 7 1/4 inch metal cutting blade to do my job without damage to either the door or my good wood blade. SO HERE, FINALLY, IS MY POINT. After researching metal cutting blade videos, I settled on a Diablo brand "Steel Demon". Not only will it cut through your pipe in seconds... it will cut a railroad track in half with ease AND it doesn't heat the metal you are cutting with it. Check it out.

Great tip. I’m using a cheap ryobi recip to cut down various brush in the backyard. For sure a chainsaw would be better for big stuff but the recip is more of a jack of all trades tool.

I love that you added "not precise" to your video. I'm not looking for precise at all. It'd be sheer luck if I got anything precise. I'm honestly digging through my husbands tool box looking for the simplest answer while he is gone.

As a carpenter, I have every tool created possibly. I cut trees with my reciprocating saw by buying the largest blades you can. Trouble is no one has upgraded the incertation point of these saws since inception. you should be able to put in blades that get wider not tht tiny little extension which always breaks off. The pinching happens so quickly as the cut gets to a point where the tree shifts a bit & there goes the blade. That means that I then have to insert the tip end when I have broken every blade I have at home & still want to cut firewood or cut a few more smaller trees down. That makes the saw bounce. Annoying.

@@Wungus_Bill As a 70yr old woman who has some depth perception issues & falls often, a chainsaw would be too dangerous for me to use. The small ones are even more dangerous because they jump since they do not have the weight to keep them held in place. Also, to purchase the clothing and face cage that one should never use a saw without is out of line with the number of small trees etc that I'd be cutting. I have seen some terrible cuts across people's chests & faces from jumping small saws that they were using, pressing against a branch, which then snapped back, sending the light saw flying backwards. No thanks.
