Que de belles émotions tour-à-tour faites de jubilations, de profondeurs et de mélancolies et avec quelle maîtrise ! +Macgki They jurors did the same with Tiffany Poon. This, and Poon being passed by are not fair. I heard several pianists who are clearly less good than these 2 woman. In natalie, they may think 16 is too young. she will do better in 2020.
@katharina_klotz4 жыл бұрын
Omg you know Tiffany i love her❤ but I think I know why, Natalie played with too much musicality and rubato, she should follow more the dynamics in the notes and take care of the phrases, maybe thats why.
@kechi90213 жыл бұрын
I don’t know much about judging in Piano competitions or classical music in general, but I heard someone say you should always be faithful to the score, and play as how the composer intended it to be played, so maybe that’s why she didn’t pass, but Idk I’m not an expert.
@aritomoshinozaki71242 жыл бұрын
My teacher had a performance and competition career. Her observation is too many competitions are first focused on fast and loud. Musicality and playing at tempos which sing more than stun are not usually rewarded in the same way. BTW there is some notion that Natalie tends to play more like Chopin might have himself than many modern interpreters. His pianos of the time were lighter and more delicate and would have favored this melodious approach over a clangourious over-speed modern playing. As a rule so far I would listen to Natalie’s Chopin for musicality and touch, and listening pleasure in most all her recorded versions vs many famous player currently. Yes there are others more theatric and athletic but that can be more like classical WWE than watching ballet IMHO.

she´s so easy to listen to.. it´s so refreshing, light and breezy despite playing Chopin´s ultra hard technique masterpiece Natalia manages to deliver suberb sound and, as Sander Cohen in Bioshock said, to seduce the ear and delight the spirit.. the ONLY other 2 pianists, who are able to do this for me are Fred Oldenburg and Valentina Lisitsa.. nobody else.. only those three.. flawless technique, easiness and immense emotional delight.. in fact listening to them often makes me wanna go and start learning to play piano..

Perfectly correct. Every young pianist (and most do) should listen to Horowitz' interpretation(s) of this - not to "copy", of course, but to learn from and grasp. Rubato and dynamics are very weak here - fortissimo, in selected phrases where necessary, completely absent. This is a bit mechanical and pedal heavy. She is a fine pianist (young and hence not musically mature - yet), so these are purely constructive observations.
