Prusa mk3s with IGUS RJZM bearings, before and after.

In this video I'll show you the before and after of replacing stock bearings and rods in a stock Prusa mk3s with IGUS RJZM-02-08 and AWMP-08.

Great demonstration. Nothing beats a before-and-after. Misalignment is likely to have caused the original bearings to fail.

I upgraded my Prusa mk3s with Drylin bearings on the X and Y axis. Works great, really quiet, and loving it!

Most of the noise comes from that damn Y axis, sometimes I amazed how many owners of Prusa mk3 say that its a very silent printer.

No, there's a typo in my video. I changed X and Z axis, not X and Y. Some said the IGUS aluminum rod cannot withstand the weight of the heatbed, so it's recommended to use steel rods. Misumi PSFJ8 rods are a good choice because it's steel plated with hard chrome, and the iglidur J material used in RJZM bearings have minimum wear on hard chrome surface (only second to hard anodized aluminum), according to their website.

@@samoworks4648 the sounds are mainly made by the Y axis...I'm going to use plastic bearings. they are quieter according to the videos I've seen. X and Z axis are fine…not as fast as Y axis

@@rovnanikjaroslav Oh, if you mean the bearings then yes I changed all three axis. Y axis noise are mostly resonance from the Y motor making the frame and the control panel vibrate. Changing bearing does not help with these vibrating noise much. You'll need to look for other mods to eliminate this kind of noise.

Feeding the stock bearings wth sticky grease once in a while is not a bad idea. It can help balls do their racket more silently. In my mind though these recirculating ball bearings are a flawed design because balls have to be forced around and they bump into each other. In a radial bearings, the balls are prevented from touching by a soft cage, whch doesn't make as much noise or wear. The OpenBuilds motion system as popularised by Creality with Delrin rollers has its disadvantages - rollers wear, sometimes uneven wear is observed, side flatting, bad profie match. But it does have the right type of bearing. I wonder what other linear motion systems people have buillt. These two plus MGN series linear rail can't be the only things surely?
