I'm an old dude and remember the original well. I never got the message of the original. One of the many many gifts that Angelina possess is that of a story teller. There is nothing more destructive to a relationship than a suspicious mind and she masterfully makes you feel that emotion. This is how this song with these lyrics should of been done. Angelina is so so special.

Eh, not sure I’d agree with you. Elvis Presley always said that song held an important message personally for him. Every true artist will have a different interpretation as to how they can best relay the meaning of a song to their audiences. Elvis, unfortunately had several people around him that he thought he could trust that actually only wanted to profit off him. They took advantage of him and steered his career until it was only a train wreck. Until he was a train wreck. But Elvis Presley was a brilliant artist and had the soulful ability to make people not only hear the music but feel the soul of it as well. The same ability Angelina was born with. She’s paying homage to a musician she understands as very few people ever will. She isn’t competing with Elvis but honoring his musical genius and probably (this is just a guess) let the world know how much he influenced her. To say that Elvis’s iconic and quite masterful version of Suspicious Minds was simply a “pop song” is like saying his music was no better than the utter crap released by “New Kids on the Block” or “Backstreet Boys”.

Mate😳What a beautiful masterful reinterpretation of Suspicious Minds. Everything from giving Elvis tribute from wearing the whole leather suit and red guitar from his comeback concert to Priscilla's beehive hairdo. Even the pianist wearing the same outfit as Elvis's backing group, loved it. Angelina made me tear up with this rendition it was so heartfelt and soulful. This is what singing sounds like.16 yrs old the entertainment world is hers to take. Loved your reaction and analysis 🥰🥰

Visually this appears to be a homage to Elvis' 1968 comeback TV special. The leather jumpsuit is similar to what Elvis wore, the guitar is the same as the one he played on the special. Even the hairstyle is reminiscent of the women in the audience. Beehive hairdos were all the rage in 1968. Angelina doesn't do covers she does recreations. Loved your reaction and look forward to you discovering more AJ. Believe me the rabbit hole is deep.

It is the same antique store that she used for My Funny Valentine What a glorious production, praise to everyone involved, so perfect for Angelina Jordan she rules the universe with her talent. Again, the great talent of Rob Christie playing the piano. The Cinemaphotography, a total MASTERPIECE. Great touch, the nieces and sister get a cameo. Mery, you should be so proud. Excellent ART Cole McCarthy! Oh, the tears, and loss of breath, she is like no other in the universe. Here is a classic example of what this ethereal talent, Angelina Jordan, can achieve she takes a mundane song and turns it in to phenomenal classic. Angelina at 16 is the MASTER of her universe, she is top priority for both Stargate, and Rob Christie Republic Records Studio Director at Universal Music Group Manhattan Beach, California. Rob has been playing the piano on most of AJ's studio production performances.

Finally a reaction that clarifies the insane skills Angelina brings to the table! Combining musical and lyrical feeling in a unique way, which prescribes her vocal choices in stead of the other way around! I have a feeling there are more details in this production that deal with the fact it is an Elvis song! Like the guitar, the hair, her clothes ... His die hard fans will know! A tribute, but she made the song her own too! Made the lyrics even deeper, if you ask me! Thanks for your reaction!

IMO, One of the attributes that separates Angelina from the others and that makes her so unique is she has always had a highly developed intuition. I believe when you combine her highly developed intuition with her hyper sensitivity to how a song should be sung it explains why she doesn’t over sing or feel the need to use every embellishment and tool in her deep tool box when she sings. She intuitively knows precisely what she wants her performance to sound like.
@lengould9262
@lengould9262 2 жыл бұрын
I get that too. Her process for learning a song seems to have her learning the melody, then deconstructing it in her mind and deciding how SHE thinks it should sound and producing a superb final arrangement in her mind, then checking out the lyrics effects on the melodic line. THEN, if still time, she will learn the lyrics, otherwise takes sheet music onstage and reads the lyrics, no problem.

That's it. With this one you officially made it to 1st spot on my reactors' list! Excellent analysis and break-down👍👍 You know, the way she's dragging behind the beat is something she's always been able to do, from the very get-go. (She started listening to jazz from she was around 3 years old, and the technique of being just before or somewhat behind the beat is very common in jazz, as I'm sure you're aware.) That is one of the reasons why it was so strikingly obvious to me that we had to do with a true prodigy. The musical genius that made it possible to digest and incorporate SO extremely much technique right away. Stuff that most singers don't manage through a whole life. At least not mastering it, making it sound innate; part of the DNA. It is very much so with Angelina. And with her particular timber, it's a done deal 😉Add the fact that you can hear inflections from more than 10 vocal icons in her voice and style and there is no question in my mind about her trajectory ♥♥♥ I'm looking extremely much forward to watching you going back to the roots again, checking off piece by piece, before eventually being able to make out the whole picture. Norwegian is my first language, so I hope you understand what I'm trying to say...LOL Much love and respect from Norway ♥

As always Angelina’s voice has no limits and coupled with this video, talk about perfectionist, its the little thing that comes to mind, if you’re a fan you know All Angelina wore while performing until she was 11 or12 were white dresses this was depicted by her 2 cousins and little sister Juliette, Angelina’s hair, black leather jacket and red guitar all take you back to Elvis’s day. Even the one clip of her with the guitar on her hip and the neck pointing down reminded me of Elvis. Grandma never misses a chance to film her grandchildren.

Exactly right! I think with every song she does, even these significant alteration songs, it strikes me she focuses on the intent of the song as originally written. She always maintains the integrity of the song. I feel this warm tribute with all the obvious and not so obvious symbolism was heartfelt from her for one of her top mentors. Loved that first vocal where we hear a shade of Elvis in her voice. I would have loved his guitar to be a bit more prominent. Probably as you said, she may not have felt confident enough to play it. And the hint of its sound was also emotive. As usual, she did an excellent version and it was so good to hear her now, more mature. Great reaction.

As you are already preparing a review to check her evolution, you will see that she has had some of her amazing virtues since she was 10 years old. For me, the most amazing thing, apart from her vocal quality, is her empathy, because she tells you the songs, she whispers them, you believe them, and that's something you can't learn, you have it or you don't. Many singers with a good voice have gone almost unnoticed because they had less sensitivity than a brick, they used and abused octaves, belts and runs without order or concert. By the way, she plays the guitar and the piano, she defends herself, in reality she only needs it to compose, she already has a whole string and wind orchestra on her vocal cords.

Confession! I have never been a great fan of Elvis Presley, although I do like some of his earlier recordings, and I had never heard of the song "Suspicious minds" but knew that Angelina would completely take ownership of it, and she did. It was beautiful. After listening to it several times, I decided to download the lyrics to see whether she kept to the original structure. She didn't and the song is all the better for it. I paste below the order in which Angelina sung the verses. "Suspicious minds" Angelina Jordan - lyrics rearranged. (1) Oh let our love survive I'll dry the tears from your eyes Let's don't let a good thing die When honey, you know I've never lied to you (2) We're caught in a trap I can't walk out Because I love you too much baby (3) Why can't you see What you're doing to me When you don't believe a word I say? (4) We can't go on together With suspicious minds And we can't build our dreams On suspicious minds (5) So, if an old friend I know Stops by to say hello Would I still see suspicion in your eyes? (6) Here we go again Asking where I've been You can't see these tears are real I'm crying (Yes, I'm crying) (7) We can't go on together With suspicious minds And we can't build our dreams On suspicious minds (8) Oh let our love survive I'll dry the tears from your eyes Let's don't let a good thing die When honey, you know I've never lied to you

What a rendition! Her Gandma Mery produced this. Looks like she used the same store she used for My Funny Valentine! Her sister Juliette was the older girl. The 2 younger girls are her Uncle Mike's kids, and, of course, 2 time Grammy winner Rob Christie on piano. What a great cover! The beehive hair is to honor Priscilla Presley and that time period in which she met Elvis. I was not expecting this! Funny thing is, this was almost 4 minutes, but it flew by and felt short! What makes her so different is that many people have said (fans and people in the industry)that she's a great storyteller. She never over does anything. Your perspective and comments are among the most perceptive I've ever heard. AJ blends deliberation and emotion in a way that's very hard to articulate. She doesn't give up the emotion of the song for a technical performance, but she also clearly understands how technique impacts emotional delivery. It's like a gifted athlete develops techniques, but then just gets in the zone when the game starts. AJ is the Roger Federer of vocalists.

What a wonderful & nice analysis of (16) Angie. Thank you. Piano player is Rob Christie. Yes Angie arranged this like all her songs. I love what she did with this story. Love all of Angie's nods to Elvis, also his wife Priscilla & daughter Lisa too & Angie growing up. Angie really out did herself on this one. She put in a lot of Elvis references, really amazing the respect & homage she paid to Elvis. Angie really blew this one away. This was filmed in the same place that she did “My funny valentine” There's a picture of (age about 1-2) baby Lisa Marie Presley on a golden coach like her cousin Athena sat on with a white dress. There was one of Lisa also (when she’s about 3) with white dress & she had curls like Angie’s other cousin had (from her uncle Michael's kids). Plus it acted as a double for us watching Angie growing up. Her sister Juilette was the older one in the white dress like Angie was in when she was 12 before she changed at 13 & her & her mom Sara & grandma Mery made clothes for her performances. The black jumpsuit & red guitar is for the welcome back tour in 1968. The hair was for Priscilla his wife. Chandeliers, mirrors & furniture was for Graceland. Angie 1st walking in with blue hue bootlettes & her also sitting on the coach with blue hue bootletts (hence blue suede shoes) & you'll even see that Angie's (Elvis stance) put her leg out & bent like Elvis did. Angelina did a lot of homework & paid a lot of respect & gave us a lot of Easter eggs & there’s still more. As she usually does on her videos. Angelina is just amazing, beyond words & other singer/writer/artists/people. She's Angelina Jordan Astar

The thing I love about Angelina all through the years but especially recently is that every word and every note is important and receives special attention whereas most singers procede through entire verses as if they are just on the way to a different part of the song. This is especially the case with belters who have softer sections in between the loud parts.

Welcome back So nice to see your thoughtful analysis of our young Barefoot Princess. Did anyone notice that right foot raise it''s heal to cradle the guitar a couple of times in the performance. I was waiting for her to throw in a little shake to it in homage to the King. Could that have been intentional? That is Rob Christie on piano. Sister Juliette and a couple of Uncle Michael's Babies. I think that makes them cousins not nieces. Full Black Leather Bodysuit, the guitar from his concert and the hair a homage to Priscilla Presley. Yeah! She brings tears to your eyes don't she? Epic. Incredible. There are no words. Epic! Wow, Wow, Wow! Could it be more Beautiful? ♥👣👸🏻🎷 Yeah she doing a Concert in Norway this month! Album to drop soon! So much to look forward to.♥👣👸🏻🎷

Angelina is wonderfully engaging, her voice gets warmer and deeper each time and her version of this iconic song is truly fantastic, much closer to the emotions of the lyrics than Elvis's version. Elegant and very sweet, she really enter the heart. I also infinitely love her amazing family who is so close to she, this video is truly a wonderful little work of art! 💛🧡❤️

@@PrymalChaos Funfact, it seems, the guitar is the original from 1977 of Elvis´s comback tour. A lot of Elvis fans commented on this. I suspect they rented this guitar just for this video. One day, not so far in the future, it will be Elvis´s and Angelina´s guitar. Man stay safe and sound. German Greetings.

I enjoyed your reaction! I think a big part of what makes Angelina who she is is that she absorbs music (from the emotion, wording, and nuances of a song to the creative environment) with such an efficiency and capacity that what is for her like sipping a drink is for anyone else more like drinking from a firehose. In a similar way that musicians in-studio lay down individual tracks for the drums, the bass line, and the backup singers, etc., so too can we say that in a sense, songwriters/original artists put an emotion “track” on their work. This source is not uniformly listened to or evenly grasped by all singers as some sing almost mechanically, some focus on eye-popping notes or other vocal gymnastics, and still others hardly focus on the singing but stress the visual whether it be an outfit, on-stage dancing, or stunning videography. Some lack the vocal skill to deliver it properly. By contrast, Angelina hears, senses, and understands this emotion track perfectly and delivers it to her listeners unapologetically and powerfully. Not only that but she has absorbed the skills from all the many monumental singers and songs that she has covered and so can bring a focused emotional laser (of both feeling and technique) to bear on a project, on a phrase, on a note, even on silence. She has all the necessary artistic and vocal skills to instinctively touch that nerve that runs to our heart. The result is as breathtaking as it is unprecedented.

Sweet reaction...thanks. After listening to this several times, I realized how integral the video is to the arrangement. This is truly an homage to Elvis and to Angelina. Mery's production is an homage to Angelina's journey as experienced by her mentor. The classical store, shaking off the old to find the new, connecting stages of her growth with the lyrics and how the arrangement made me listen to the story and its message. Angelina's "patience" was evident in 2014 NGT's "Bang Bang" and 2016's "Feeling Good". Rob's piano is becoming a staple in Angelina's arrangements. They interact so seamlessly, and their "harmony" is like a sweet duet.

Yes, good analysis. Sometimes Angelina will completely stun you with her voice, and sometimes, like this, you just float in the beauty of her slowed-down, mature, interpretation of a classic. Angelina puts great thought, I believe, into her opening phrases. She grabs you right away in almost every song, like she does here. I actually wanted more of that opening vocal character throughout. It was so clean, strong, and rich. The guitar was a nod to Elvis. Angelina does play guitar, but left-handed as you can see in some of her tik-tok videos where she plays for real to accompany her singing. Her videos since she joined with Republic are all classy. She is unique is her ability to interpret lyrics so openly and personally. She’s never performing-she’s singing to each of us, individually.

She does not play left-handed. When you use the front lens of a cell-phone, it reverses everything. Lots of that on TikTok. Look at the mark on her right cheek.

@@js33412 Thank you, I wasn’t aware of that. I have only seen her playing on those cell phone videos, and I noticed that she was playing left-handed. I understand now, but Angelina is probably ambidextrous, anyway.

Hi Mr prymal chaos (funny Name). I'm Danilo, an Angel from ROME Italy. I was in Kongsberg on July 7th. Don't ask. Can't explain how it felt. Right off the bat. You've got yourself a new subscriber. Your comments are masterful 'cause you underlined, with a minimal use of technical wordings, the qualities that make her Great. You mentioned talent contests, the Voice, particularly the voice Kids, where, like you said, it seems that the only thing they aim to is to over sing one another. Not Angelina. She has "Known" every song she's performed in the past 10 years. She hear a song, reads the lyrics and decides how it should be sung. She belts it out only when the song asks for it. Rhianna, Whitney, Beyonce, Lady Gaga..... add to the list if wish. She's already way above them all and she's only 16.imagine what it will be like 10 years from now.
