If people are expecting mass scenes just because they look good, especially in a political drama like ponniyin selvan, then i guess those people are missing the whole point of ponniyin selvan. Its sad that such a nuanced storytelling by maniratnam has been dismissed so easily because they cannot tolerate a simple fact like a poonal, which by the way, wasn't worn just by 'iyers'. Kalki himself being an 'iyer' used a lot of non-tamil vocabulary in the original PS, but i guess people pick and choose what to hate. Truly sad to see where we have come.

This ps1 and 2 is collectively made of a budget of 500 crores. Still its a disappointment to both bookreaders and general audience and for few genuine mani kannis. But for those people who praise mani direction even though it's not worth, they like bore screenplay like in this ps 2 movie. There are few good scenes in the film.
