Positional audio is far better in VR than using a regular surround system since it adapts to the position and direction of your head. Being able to turn your head toward a noise and hear the sounds pan realistically (as long as the VR game is properly made) is a huge factor in VR immersion for me. Not all VR games handle positional audio properly though, and some less powerful platforms like the Quest 2 can have a hard time processing it well due to their lack of power. The PS5 has built in 3D audio hardware though, so PSVR 2 should get great positional audio. I hope you get a chance to experience VR soon, and would be very curious to hear your thoughts.
