The grip that is in between the French and German grip is called American.

That’s not exactly the grip that’s described or should be adhered to. Grip should be fluid in this case to adapt to playing with different techniques, dynamics and on the different parts of the instrument 👍🏼

@@CongaChops I respectfully disagree and understood exactly what the instructor said. I'm only commenting only on what he says in the following statement: "Mi grip favorito para tocar el timbal es algo entre el Aleman y el Frances. Con las palmas no exactamente paralelas ni tampoco extactamente uniformes con el parche". *What he demonstrates is called the American Grip. You can ask anyone who teaches snare drum.

Yes, I understand what you’re saying, thanks for sharing. What I’m trying to make clear is that our grip changes, and can be be fluid depending on whether we are playing the cascara, the bells, or the actual drum heads. The reason we don’t classify it as an American grip is because at times it can be closer to French and at times it can be closer to German, that’s all 🙌🏼
