to be specific, that "shaking" you're looking at is called "interlacing". These games are designed to be played on CRT televisions unless they have a progressive scan mode, and most PS2 games output interlaced signals to give an appearance of more fluid animation. That in conjunction with scanlines, causes the appearance of 60hz movement with 30hz frame processing, as most native PS2 games have a video mode of 480i30. That's the game doing it, not the emulator. The emulator's programmers simply haven't added a deinterlace function to the emulator's GPU plugin yet, which PCSX2 has.

I heard PCSX2 is written in a way that makes it really hard to port, so that's why it'll take some time before an Android version can happen. But by the time it happens maybe nearly all Android devices will be more than capable of PS2 emulation :)

The screen shaking is a by-product of field rendered interlacing, it happens on PCSX2 as well and it can fortunately be disabled with patches

Yeah we wish pcsx2 was on the store. Unfortunately they had said that they don't have any plans to bring pcsx2 to android anytime soon. Even with the Retroarch core, they said they won't anytime soon.

I finally got a phone powerful enough for a lot of emulators since my s7 crapped out, I'm on an s10 now and I was honestly so surprised at the lack of ps2 emulators/compatability on Android. Tbh I just play most of my games from around that Era on dolphin android app using their Gamecube counterparts, in instances where the games didn't come out on both platforms I'm kinda shit outta luck rn. I've done that with the Simpsons hit and run which runs on dolphin albeit with Frame drops at times but it's still playable tbh. as others have said PCSX2 needs to release an android app

To be honest phones have the setup to run PS2 games it's just the lack of demand, there are no investors to invest heavy money in PS2 emulation for any real work to be done, people are just not that interested on playing PS2 games on mobile considering how cheap a PS2 is nowadays and just generally moving on from it

Didn't look half bad to me. Curious what the specs are though. Are we talking $150 pixel 2 here or more like s10 or super new s21 grade fidelity of phones? Currently still rocking LG stylo 4+ after my xperia z3v went black never turned on again accidentally leaving the camera on plus it took a dive a few months prior after its water resistance was no longer intact from age / use which broke the front cam.

A silver lining I would say, is at least since pcsx2 got a retroarch core for pc, it might actually hint at the fact that an android core (and even a full app) might be in the works.

Genshin impact got released on phones This game is huge it is about 10 gb in size Phones are developing really fast and a lot of new people are getting into mobile gaming in games like pubg I have high hopes for ps2 emulation on mobile devices

Handhelds have been around for ages. The quality of their games are great. I hope ps2 emulators on pc and android could catch up the dolphin development. Still rocking a ps2 slim and playing Okami (26 hours in)

True, and PS2 is one hard console to emulate regardless of android hardware. I actually came across a snapdragon 888 device that had difficulty running a ps2 game on play! Forgot which phone or game it was though.

Play! is the Original Ps2 Emulator on android. the play! devs and pcsx2 devs made that for android. after that damon incident the play! progress and development stop, funds stop until now.. i hope someone will fundraise the devs of play!. if play! emulator will be paid in the future i would love to buy it to support the devs

The day Play! Is as playable as PPSSPP Is the day I'll be very happy. The ability to play PS2 games on the go is a dream of mine. I hope it's sooner rather than later but heck I can wait. This is PS2 emulation on Android we're talking about! The PS2 is hands down one of the best game consoles ever made. There are tons of games for this console that I have lost countless hours to. Not to mention there's still hidden gems I haven't even heard of still out there.

@@CalamariPlaysStarfield no 99% sure it is not! many MANY games can only be played on the PCSX2 on "software mode" or else there are glitches , you need a beast of a phone to pull that off, but IF you have spent all your money on a phone THAT good and THAT expensive so you ended up having no money left to buy a laptop to play PS2 games on the go then... sell that phone (you don't need that much power anyway) and buy a cheaper phone AND a laptop for PCSX2 ;-)

I gave you a like for saying DamonPS2 stole code. Most people don't mention that or are completely oblivious to it. Also, my buddy over at DraStic said he might wanna develop a PS2 emulator for Android in the future! I think he's on the fence about it, but I'd love to see him do it.

Damon PS2 really weird emulator, they add chat and gameplay recorder when no one likes the the emulator, DMC 1 run the same fps on my old android from 2018. And last time im log in to the emulator my Facebook pic just show up on the emulator like WTF ?

Hi, I liked your video, I have tried 4 different android tv boxes using Danon / play and retroarch Play but none will worl is there a recomentdation for a box or model that is compatible with a ps2 emulator? one of my boxes was a amazon 2 gb ram box / 2 were 2 gb android tv boxes (HN1 ) (h296 ) and the other was a 4 gb androin H296, none of them worked. are there any models that you or other readers can recommend, also the Ps portable does not emulate or the saturm on any of my boxes either.

@1:26 It is not all doom and gloom, dude. Monster Hunter 2 Dos runs even better than on my relatively capable PC with AMD RX480 but sacrifices a huge chunk of accuracy along the way. Yet, the main issue is that textures are kinda buggy. :)
