Logic is simple, book il be read only by a few, so anything can be mysterious in it… but visual media has wider scope and powerful, it will be seen by many and for generations… information shud be write when it comes to filming. According to history the climax is correct and thats what the crew wanted to showcase to the generations, instead of giving a fictional climax and confusing future audience… PS book is historical fiction , not real, mani sir adopted tat fiction to show case love of karikalan and nandhini… and dynamics of love revenge and war… but adopted climax from history to give right incident to people… one might say nandhini is also fictional character, yes since he adopted that character this movie is named PS… his area of interest is love bit in that book… if anyone wants to film other gists they can do it with their creativity… I feel he made justice for both novel and history by drawing distinguishing line… brilliant screenplay, writing and thought process, instead of just going with what kalki bluffed… remember kalki had to prolong the story as much as he wanted cos this was coming weekly in vikatan, so he had liberty to say anything he wanted to keep people reading it. When it comes to filmmaking such dragging il make audience get bored… the crew has used their perspective lens to finish this film… book left nandhini character without justification, film has given beautiful finish to it… as a book reader I understand PS Novel lovers agony, but for film saying truth is important to educate the audience rightly about history… lets us respect the making and efforts from the crew, lets support this initiative rather than criticizing so more such films will come in Tamil industry…

Release ku munadi na guess pannadhu ena na,,, Opening scene la Sundara Chozhan goes into depression and starts polambifying all coz of Mandakini, she's cursed this kingdom apdinu. Apo he will start blaming Oomai Rani and Kundavai will be so confused. Meanwhile its shown as she's saving PS again. Next naa romba miss pannathu, before dying Mandakini could've seen PS as if he's his son andha maadiri. But regarding madhuranthakan mani sir has shown the real history where Arunmozhi gives the throne to madhuranthakan who is the direct son of gander aadhithar. Kalki has made the twist to make the novel interesting. But yes the entire 5 part novel cannot be compressed into a two-part film there will be some compromise and Mani sir has done a good justice. In the future ponniyin selvan can be made into a web series.

Excellent Explanation.. One thing needs to be clarified. In the story it says that the Cholas got defeated by the Rashtra kootars at Thakkolam.. But in the movie why its shown just the opposite, as Karikalan Spares the life of Pothigan the Head of the Rastra kootars? If only Kalki would've been alive today, the movie would've been 200 percent perfect! Kudos for Mani Ratnam & Jeya Mohan Sir for accomplishing the Impossible..

Hi, When I read the novel, I thought that when Karikalan came to know that Veerapandian is the father of Nandini and not the husband of her was an important scene in the novel. (Becoz Karikalan felt guilty of killing Nandini's father) But that angle is not shown in the movie. Even in PS -1, there is a dialogue between Karikalan and Kundavai that 'she(Nandini) married Veerapandiyan'. What are your thoughts on this bro?
