PS2 slim power button switch replacement

I ordered a new switch but the ribbon is thinner than my old one and it doesn’t work , could the ribbon be why?

Honestly I'm not sure boss I'm not familiar with this system.my kids came to me and said there Playstation wasn't working so I was like fuck it I'm a mechanic how hard can it be..and diagnosed the issue ..and that's what I found haha and it worked
