i would love to know what possible reason they had to target 1440p on a playstation 3 instead of targetting 60fps

The game run at 720p/1080p at 30fps max on the PS3. The 60fps mode is patched for real hardware.

Despite selecting 720p or 1080p in PS3's display settings, the game runs internally at 2560x1440. Doing a quick comparison between 720p & 1080p, you only lose about 2 to 5 frames depending on the scene. Using the fps patch does not change the resolution of the game, it only unlocks the fps to 60 and a few minor other things.

My only guess is that they wanted to use the downscaling as a form of anti-aliasing. downscaling is more effective than MSAA and generates a cleaner image than FXAA. Good anti-aliasing does a lot in these "anime-style" games, and I guess SEGA thought that was more important than the gameplay.

why doesn't miku arm cloth physics work on rpcs3? like the stuff on her arms in 2:35 isn't moving for rpcs3

Its due to the cloth physics at times being tied to the framerate, if you play at the original fps (30) its fine.

I don't really know unfortunately, I only know when things break but I don't know how to fix or improve things! If I were to guess, mayyyybee the modding community could share more knowledge but I'm too lazy to join in the first place.

In RPCS3, you can right click the game and select "Manage Game Patches", and you should be able to 'Download latest patches'. After downloading the patches you should be able to select 60 FPS, apply and boot the game!

You have to change the VBlank Frequency in the Advanced Tab. Beware what was already sped up at 60, will speed up even more. Also, I had a way to edit the 60fps patch but, since it was updated I no longer know how to.

I knew and had written down in a previous video how to modify the existing patch to allow other specific fps values - kzbin.info/www/bejne/i3TGnGxtp8qWjMU However, the patch was changed some time ago and I no longer have any clue how to modify it. (I really don't know how to patch games to being with)
