FOR A 21XX, DON'T TRY TO EXCEED 700/900 !
⚠️ If your PS3 can """only""" do 650/800, or 700/900 max, it's already enough ! OCing WILL reduce the lifespan of your console and there are diminishing returns starting from 700MHz core and 800MHz VRAM.
⚠️ Only a few PS3s will be able to handle 800 on core (or even more). As for memory, 1000MHz is risky to try if you don't possess a hardware flasher.
⚠️ Never jump to high values without knowing the limits of your PS3. Proceed step by step.

@@Holmie_ What is the most important is the RSX revision (CXD5300"A1GB", "CGB", "GGB"). That said, do not risk to OC it very high, as there are diminishing returns starting from 700MHz core and 800MHz VRAM. And if you're asking, yes OCing will have an impact on lifespan, even with good cooling and without voltmoding it. Electromigration, voltage ripple, more heat generated, etc... great video. Crazy a 5-10 sometimes 15 FPS gain and stable 60 FPS. On 800/1000 with 60 FPS its so nice to play with out frame drops

There's one thing to keep in mind, some Artemis cheats can lag your game. Happened to me in Far Cry 3. Otherwise it's smooth sailing.

Nice video @MitsuTM, I'm glad my video provided some inspiration for you 😅It doesn't seem to be raining in your video, though, I had rain on (not just a wet track) to get the lowest FPS possible. The FPS for stock is higher than in my video, mine reached to a low of 35 FPS or so. I want to check out my RSX revision, but it is now stuck with PTM 7950, it's impossible to remove the heatsink from the chip. Your temperatures look very good for a 25xx slim, maybe my heatsink is defective. What thermal paste did you use? Sadly, I can't push my PS3 slim that far. I can manage a safe 700/925 OC for daily use. 700/950 gives me a GLOD (no video) from cold boot which requires me to unplug and plug the power cable to use this OC. Stable in games, but very annoying to use. I got one freeze from cold boot on 750 core, so 700 core it is.

I had however set the rain to the maximum, but it's true that the video quality doesn't show it well (or at all, should I say) 😅 As for the thermal paste, I use the Arctic MX4 since years, it does the job pretty well ! Also, I've set the minimal speed of the fan at 45% and my ambient temperature is around 18°C. From what you say, I guess that your PS3 have a CXD5300A1GB, since 700/925 is the max it can do. You must seek for absolute stability when overclocking, so yeah, forget about 750 on core or 950 on memory. 700/925 is already a great OC !😁

Also have a 0D revision, but i get artifacting right away with 800/900. 700/900 is fully stable. I'm thinking of getting a 220w power supply for maybe better results...

Yes, that's what I use in mine ! Do you know which RSX revision is in your PS3 ? You can find this info on the IHS, before applying thermal paste. My PS3 has a CXD5300CGB, this is probably the main factor when overclocking. The newer the chip, the better the OC. 900 on core is possible with a CXD5300GGB, while the CXD5300A1GB can "only" do 700 (750 if you're lucky) on core.

@@MitsuTM what oc did you get with the stock power supply? I have both the rsx and the cell delidded, to tell you the truth replacing the thermal paste again is too much of a hassle. The temps are good, the chips stay below 70c practically all the time with fan speed set to 30% in webman

​@@user-yv5vv9go6o Honestly, with or without it, my PS3 can't do 850 on core (it freeze after ~30/45 minutes in Crysis at 70°C). While it's not game changer, it still provide more stability overall and less heat, so it's a good thing. As I said, the main factor when overclocking is the chip revision. Unfortunately, date codes aren't guarantees that you will find a good chip, as even 25XX 1A slims can have a CXD5300A1GB (= the "weakest" revision you can find in a 25XX).

I plan to test more games, I confirm ! I can try to test New Vegas but as the others Bethesda games, I don't think that gains will be massives. - 30 FPS limited games. - Poorly optimized. - Still this save file size issue. The first thing to do with these games is to put a good SSD (Samsung for example) in your PS3. It will help with load times, etc... Then, maybe overclocking can help maintaining 30fps, I will verify it.

@@fabiobedini9302 Hi ! I would recommend 650/800-850 MAX. 700MHz core is often too much for the aging capacitors (NEC Tokins), leading to shutdowns in intensives games like Red Dead Redemption, Red Faction Guerrilla, The Last of Us, Skyrim, etc...

No, it's not an idle scene, this is a replay. This is why this game is great for comparisons like this, you can save a replay and test it with any frequency for a perfect 1:1 comparison.

Todas las PS3 FAT lo son, así como las PS3 SLIM con número de modelo CECH-20xx y CECH-21xx. Entre las PS3 Slim modelo CECH-25xx, solo son compatibles aquellas cuyo firmware de fábrica es 3.56 o inferior. Para verificar esto, es necesario comprobar el código de fecha de fabricación, que se encuentra en la etiqueta de la consola. Sorry if I answered unpleasantly, I see so much misinformation about it that I’m a little tense... 😅 This is not a plugin, in fact you have to patch the ". PUP" file you want to use (Evilnat 4.91.2 Beta 9 for example). To do this, you need to use "ps3MFW-Builder". That said, it's generally better to avoid overclocking a FAT too much.

@@rymc420 Fully cleaned PS3, Arctic MX4 thermal paste, my now dead beloved Delta fan at 40% speed minimum (Delta KFB1012HE, by far the most effective model you can get for a Slim, I tried them all), the console is surelevate by ~2cm to allow better air circulation/heat dissipation and... that's all. Also, I don't remember what was the ambient temperature when I recorded this, but it was probably way lower than it actually is.

I have a PS3 CECHL FAT 65nm/65nm CELL/RSX 1TB SSD On liquid metal and OC 600/750 and fans at 30%, the RSX has never exceeded 70 degrees Celsius. I have been testing the console for 5 months almost every day. Zero problems. I have installed CFW 4.90 Evilnat Cobra 8.4 [PEX] [OC] 600/750 right now. Can I use one of your CFWs? For example - 650_800_BETA9_PEX.pup_4.91.CEX-PS3UPDAT ? I would like to get even more out of the RSX e.g. 650/800. I have the PEX version. Does it conflict with the CEX version? Of course, everything is my responsibility. Best regards.

@@bartsic85 Hmm, given the fact that your PS3 has a 65nm RSX, maybe it will support 650/800 just fine BUT we mustn't forget about the NEC Tokins capacitors. If they are too degraded, you'll encounter shutdown in some demanding games (Metal Gear Rising Revengeance, Red Dead Redemption, Skyrim, The Last of us, etc...). This is quite common with the 20XX slims too. Regarding the RSX itself, it should be fine. (Btw, the PEX variant won't conflict at all with the CEX one. You can switch at will.) To conclude, you'll have to test to know ! But you won't brick it just by installing 650/800. Liquid metal isn't recommended for a PS3, it will literally eat any aluminum part, so it's pretty dangerous for the heatsink (and IHS if I remember correctly) on the long run. A good thermal paste is more than enough and at least it's 100% risk-free 👍

Thank you very much for your help. Everything worked out and I am currently testing Crysis 3 on a new OC 650/800 with increased cooling to 34%. I left the game in a stressful moment and observed for 30 minutes. FPS increased from 29fps to 31fps. Temperatures 1 degree lower on RSX and Cell (69 and 59 Celsius). I am using liquid metal from China LT-100 128W, because it is the most efficient liquid metal on the market and I was very tempted to test it. After a year, I will disassemble the console and check whether the liquid metal actually caused any damage. Thank you very much again for your help.
