It seems a lot of resistors can go faulty on ps3 boards. In addition, without the oscilloscope it would have been extremely difficult to find the area of the fault. It pays to have a good board around to compare values. Thank you for another excellent repair.

Can you help me? I've got a PS3 Slim 3004B. It turns on and works for 10 seconds to 10 minutes. I checked all the resistances, and they are OK. What could the problem be? I think it might be the RSX, and I might need to reball it.

@Rermo416 If your PS3 Slim shuts down after a few minutes, you might be right about the RSX and the CELL. The RSX and CELL chips can sometimes lose connection with the motherboard due to thermal stress, and a re-ball might help restore stability. Before rebelling, you might want to try a reflow as a temporary test to see if it resolves the issue, though rebelling is often a more permanent solution.

Hello sir thanks for all your efforts you are the only one who try to fix that problem I have the exact problem on my ps3 and i followed all your videos related with that problem i don't know how to give power to mobo so i didn't test the voltage like you did in that video but i tested every resistors you tested in those videos and are fine except two things 1 the cmos resistors you found 201 ohm and 33 ohm and mine has 4k ohm and 33 ohm (cmos battery is there) 2 the resistor you replaced in the back Risistors in mine are different order there so i kind of lost there i tested them anyway some has 2.2k some has 3.3k some has 270 ohm Any advice sir and thanks in advance

Assalamu aleykum rahmetullah ve berakatu, I will ask about a malfunction. PS3 slim The problem is, I did a re-fluxing process to the processor. But I tried this without a professional BGA tool. I gradually heated the chip from 200 c to 210 c by applying flux. Now the red light on the device is fixed. When I start it, the fan is not spinning. It starts. It turns off after 20 seconds without making any beep sound. The red light goes out without any beep. There is no heating in RSX and cell. Another question I have. Professional. Unfortunately, I do not have the means to buy a tool. What should be the maximum reflow temperature of the chip with a hot air gun or station and how many minutes should it remain at that temperature on average to ensure reflow.Teşekkür ederim.

First, set the heat gun to 180 to 200 degree and preheat the whole motherboard from both sides for about 10 to 15 minutes. Then give heat both sides of the specific chip at 480 degrees for about 3 to 4 minutes. It will help not to bend the motherboard. And lowers the chance of damaging the solder pads under the BGA chip .

2.2 k is not the actual value. You need to check the exact value of a resistor taken down from another motherboard of the same model.

Its called schematics, and yeah there’s schematics everywhere most have components written down, most have just letters and numbers like R1 R5 for resistors C1 for capacitors T3 for transistors What he does is take a ps3 model that works fine and write down all capacities if u dont have a clear schematic. But since its a ps3 there’s probably a detailled one, idk why he’s lying tho, some people like to look like magicians when they’re not.

@@medmusic7977 ps3 motherboards have a lot of revisions and to be honest i have not seens any detailed schematic about ps3 or ps4 device online. I fixed my ps4 by guessing missing resistance value and applyinh ohms law in order to calculate the proper value. Not much convenient.
