How to fix slim ps3 CECH 3004A shutting down after 5-10 seconds

b/4 you try the fix on your ps3 1st try another PSU because sometimes the problem is from the PSU.

I would not put washers in there, you are reducing the contact areas and it won't cool as well. If you need to add thickness, you can buy aluminum flashing for cheap and cut it to the same size as the chips.

Exactly... if anything use Pennies. Copper conducts heat 100x's better than a metal washer.

So the copper ones you buy on ebay for example sit on the heat sinks above paste ? I've repeated along with a blob on each before putting back together new cons battery but still shutting down after a few seconds looked at power supply fuse is good capacitors r good and I di have power driving me nuts I've fixed TV's easier ggrr any ideas mate ?

You cant put washers on a thermal lid! You're creating hot air pockets and destroying the CPU and GPU!!

The CPU & GPU on the MotherBoard are Not completely connecting to the heatsinks because the GPU is slightly taller than the CPU. by using Washers or Pennies on Top of the CPU, it helps even it out & create a better connection.

@@ThreeDeeIcon i think they create more pressure on the CPU in order to connect the broken legs of the solders again to the motherboard, which were previously broken from overheating.

Clean off the old thermal paste and re apply. Then reassemble. This video shows how.

Use Pennies instead of Washers. Pennies are the perfect fit & theyre Copper, which conducts heat better than metal.
