🙏 THANK YOU. Bought a backwards compatible ps3 for really cheap on ebay and the guy thought the disc drive was destroyed. Turns out there was just a disc and a GUITAR PICK wedged in there hahah. This vid helped me immensely resetting the off track mechanics though! Cheers

This video really helped. Although I have the ceche01 version, they made it a little bit easier as there was no screw to detach the arm piece, no ribbon cable, no stickers either. But I did have to remove the inner metallic piece first before being able to take the white cog off otherwise I think I would've broke it pulling it out. but other than that all the steps were practically the same. But you saved my Rocky & Bullwinkle disc!! I haven't been able to continue binging my series box set for months, so THANK YOU!

Thanks, Took apart blu-ray drive with a disc in it, put it back together and drive would not let a disc be inserted. Took apart and found that two clips where preventing disc from being loaded. Used your process above to reset drive and move the two clips back in place. Works fine now.

brilliant vid. . when you take that cog off, push it back and forward few times and make sure the 2 grey disc stoppers(where the disc goes in at front) both popp up same time then back down to the flat position then make sure it's locked in place and put the cog back on :)

Ok I need your help. turned out ps2 games only work on my PS3. Now no discs will be read. it sucks them in but no blue light is on. I then opened the drive up and the disc was not fully in. it wasnt even in the circle bit so it could spin. how do i fix this?

Hi I was able to reset as you instructed but now the drive takes the disc but doesnt fully pull it in, it gets like 90% of the way in and I can hear it trying to seat it on the spindle but never does. It ejects it fine after though...

why do you have to dismantle all of it? you got disk then put it back together it again right?

you can just unscrew and lift up the silver motor instead of that white gear and this will still work with 2 less steps required : D

I bought a PS3 for £5 a while back. I tried inserting a disc but it wouldn't go in, I shake the PS3 and spaghetti and half a copy of modern warfare comes out. Also the small 80gb HDD was filled to the brim with p*rn. Still can't insert a disc, so I'll try this.

I bought a PS3 for £5 at a carboot sale thinking it wouldn't work and I could use it for spares but it did work, although only if I kept it upside down. Eventually it stopped reading the disc. I opened up the drive and inside was the disc part of a PSP game, which had been in there. Fifa 08.. Amazing that it worked for so long with something jammed in.

So I was able to get my disc and re set the motor, but it still wont take any discs in (so the games wont read because it still thinks the drive is empty). Any solutions?

After following your tutorial, I could get the disk out, but immediately it does the same thing. Disc goes in but won't eject. It tries but can and just gives up. I'm not sure what's really wrong with the mechanism. Any ideas would be helpful

I bought a refurbished disc drive. Traded out the board from original drive. Then after install now it doesn't respond at all to anything. Beforehand the original one stopped accepting discs and reading them since kids put 5 discs in at the same time. The new one doesn't even eject or respond. The system starts normally without codes, but whenever I try to click on anything even PlayStation store it just goes to black screen. Any advice?

Good video, what was causing the disk to be stuck for me was a mini sd card. A child must have put it into the disk drive.

kyle monroe Yeah I know. The analogs on the remote which came with the console were also filthy. Only reason I bought the console was because it was running firmware from 2009.

The problem could be related to poor contacts on the Hard Drive. Remove HD, rub lightly with an eraser then reinsert & move back & forth a few times to maybe obtain better contact. This worked for me.

Hi there, so, I'm working on this now, but I have a couple of problems. One,I did as you said, and slid the slider bak to where it isn't locked in position, but the motor just revs, and wont accept the disk, it seems as if the slider isnt being pushed into the gears. Why isn't it? Second, if I put it in to the gears myself it tweaks about and makes a horrible grinding noise. Any ideas?

The motor that takes in the disk doesn't even pull the disk in for me and I don't have a disk in the drive, and the gears are all reset, any ideas?

My ps3 fell from a height of about 70cm. Then the disc spinner didn't spin the disc at all so I replaced the deck. Now the problem is that when it starts spinning I hear a sqweezing noise, like the disk doesn't stand steady and it tangents on something but everything inside the drive seems to be ok. Me too. I even tried to use fine tweazers. Broke the cable clean off. If the sensor is important, I now have just a glorified paper weight. Or is there a way to fix it?
