that's the nicest repair i have ever watched... better than, "better than factory" - well played, subbed.

Good stuff mate. Good to see my braid technique is getting around lol. It really does create a solid anchor point for the connector
@UberMicroRepairs3 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Yeah it's solid! My other PS4 PRO vid from last year I shouted you out about that technique. Think you used enameled wire to web it across the missing anchor point.

Nice job. I like the rock solid braid anchor technique. Thought you were using a grinder pen, but seeing from your replies below its a fibre glass pen. Thanks for sharing

Yeah the fibreglass pen isn't fun to use! You'll fine sharp shards in your skin days later annoyigng you, but they do make nice work. If that makes sense!?

Awesome job there. I've just ripped the connector off even being careful but still. Need a lot more practise soldering to get as good as this. Well done. The use of that UV conformal coating is a great addition compared with some other repairs I watched. What heat setting do you use?

Thank you. I use 380c on the soldering iron.

Hello! Thanks for video. About to attempt this repair right now and I've only done a couple repairs before. What gauge of copper wire are you using to remake the traces? I have some that is 30AWG and 155°C.

Hi, 30AWG will be perfectly fine to do this repair. I use some 0.01mm trace wire I have around.

Is the conformal coating necessary?
@UberMicroRepairs2 жыл бұрын
It's not 100% necessary, no. Specually in this case where the ancorpoint will take all the load. I use it for protecting the bare wires. If there are weak solder joints it can be handy to help keep them planted, specially on a connector that is used daily.
