Not really...the weakness to remote play is wifi and the lack there of. With the Switch you don't need a wifi connection to play triple A games you just need to turn it in. With remote play if your wifi is weak on either end you're getting crappy gameplay and stutter and frame drops. Then you have places were you have zero access to wifi, you can't remote play then. Remote play isn't the answer. Leaving your console on for hours just so you can play for a few moments away from home is not a good idea.

No. You need Android 10 to connect the DS4 wirelessly. Otherwise you need a USB OTG cable for your phone and plug your DS4 into it.

Yeah only the new pixel and the iPhone 11 apparently work. Samsung phone 10 series, and lower don't work and iPhone x and lower doesn't work with controller that's is. At least that's my experience after trying out several different phones I own.

I've seen people run older phones from 6 plus months ago when the ps4 update allowed remote play with android. Now everyone is saying for the ps4 controller to work it has to be android 10?! This has throw me for a loop! I I read android 10 firmware release back in September! Guess not all android devices will run android 10. My phone isn't that old but only way to get a10 is if I download it as a rom pkg(basically a custom firmware mimicking a10). I purchased online brand spanking new samsung tablet. Then I read the tablet has android 9 on it! Now I am worried I wont be able to update it! I want remoteplay specifically for portable ps4 gaming! I had issue with remote play when I was doing it at home but when I went to work which is four miles away from where I live, it worked great. My wifi is top tier and I had zero issues away from home. I played for eight hours on my ipad pro while at work, played Days Gone, Watch Dogs 2 and Skyrim. The games looked great in 1080p on the ipad pro as well. The down side is if you have a weak internet then it really doesn't work.

unfortunately it's even laggier than Vita or PC remote play. Almost entirely unplayable. I guess it makes sense because I've always noticed that any game you play on android has much more input lag than a dedicated console like Vita or Switch but I was still kind of hoping it would have less lag. Sony can do better frankly. It's not entirely their fault that there's lag, even without remote play games have lag but there's more than there needs to be. If you look at Steam Link, you see why I think Sony can do better. Steam link is a cheap piece of crappy hardware that will often glitch and restart BUT, it has much less input lag than any remote play app on PC, Android, or Vita. Even if you hook up your PS4 and PS TV or PC via ethernet cable, you still get 80ms lag at least while Steam Link can get as low as 20ms lag, or 30 ms even over wifi. With android, I'm guessing the input lag is MINIMUM 150ms, but honestly I think it's more like 250ms. Just making an educated guess but I wouldn't be surprised at all if NXGamer or Digital Foundry tests it, and finds that Android remote play has 250+ ms of input lag. AKA, unplayable

Unfortunately the lag issue is based on the hardware and environment you are running it on. 1. The vita with 2.4 ghz WiFi connection will struggle if there is lots of network interference. This will happen in a apartment building where there are multiple networks interfering with one another. This can also happen if your router is too close to other electronic devices. 2. Remote play on older devices will sometimes struggle with lag since their Bluetooth and network cards aren’t up to date with today’s standards. I ran into these issues myself with multiple devices. However remote play now works perfect on my iOS devices since they are up to date and connected on 5ghz network.

If your device doesn't support the DS4 controller all you have to do is make a different PS4 account, use remote play with that account on your phone to that account on the PS4, then turn on the controller like you would normally do on the PS4 and login as your primary account or the account you want to use, press the PS button and it's going to take you to the menu of your primary account, you'll be able to play in that account with the controller while in remote play

Note: If you have a Android device it has to have Android 10 to connect your PS4 controller. It will not work if you don't have the Android 10 software and there is not many phones that have it. Hopefully in the future PlayStation will include Android 8 and 9. Now you can still remote play on your touch screen Android device, but it is real hard to play your favorite games. They do make a Android touch-screen controller that you can purchase online. PlayStation dropped the ball on this one, but I haven't lost hope in them. If you use different account with the app and the ps4, you can use the remote play like a "guess", only for look who play the ps4 without interact with them (you can't interact with the controls of the app) . So you can use the dualshock 4 connected to the ps4 and use the smartphone only like a second screen.

Then switch user on remote play and press ps button on controller and it should still work... Once or twice it didn't but now it's working... I tested various games no lag and controller works...a good work around

Technically it can run off your cellular data. However Sony disables this because the performance will be hit or miss. For iOS devices there is a third party app called R-Play and you can remoteplay perfectly off your cellular data. Of course you will need a solid signal, otherwise it will struggle. Unfortunately the R-Play app stopped working after the 7.0 update. The good news is that the development team is actively working to resolve the issue. Interesting fact is that you can remoteplay with a Vita connected to your mobile hotspot. It works really well as long as your cellular signal is strong.

It's no t affecting your internet speed. It's figuring off your local connection on the wifi. Internet speed has nothing to do with this.

@@57895100 the controller works with the app only if your phone is rooted if not you have to be on the android 10.0 beta i had remote play installed on every phone since my galaxy s4

Once paired on Android 10, do you have to re-sync your DS4 in order to use it on your PS4 directly or does it recognize it anyways? I heard it does on iOS13.

For anyone that can't use their DS4 with bluetooth, 1. Make a 2nd account 2. Login to your ps4 and the app with the 2nd account 3. Start remote play 4. Once it's connected press the home button on your DS4 then switch to your main account

This only works if you are home near the ps4 . Making remote play outside home useless with a ds4. Unless you got android 10 soft. Its cool for those who want to play it home without bothering and allow the tv to be used.

Is anyone else experiencing like half a second of input lag? I'm doing it on my Galaxy S10 Plus and it works great except for that half second of input lag. My PS4 Pro is using a cat 7 cable and is Type 2 NAT type. I don't know of any other way to get rid of that little bit of input lag that makes it difficult to play anything

@@dmatthews077 You don't need Android 10 to use Remote Play. You only need Android 10 to sync a PS4 controller to your phone so you can use Remote Play with your Dualshock 4.
