PS4 Slim- Disassembling, Cleaning, Thermal Paste And Thermal Pads Replacement

I've been using my PS4 Slim extensively for the past 3 years, it serves me well and i didn't face any overheating issues. But as rule of thumb it's a good idea to change the thermal paste and do a deep clean at least one every 3 or 4 years. Thermal paste and thermal pads tend to lose their properties over time, which might cause serious overheating issues. So for this episode, we'll give our PS4 Slim the love it deserves, we'll do a complete step by step teardown disassemble and cleaning. I'll also replace the thermal paste and the thermal pads.
For the teardown you'll need, a decent quality thermal paste, since we're going to do a complete disassemble it's also a good idea to change the thermal pads. We'll also need two types of screwdrivers: Torx T8 and Phillips PH0. Some sort of prying tool and set of pliers would also be helpful.

Cool video, just want to ask i have changed and cleaned my ps4 slim and changed the thermal paste and it go between 70 and 78 degrees but when i play big games like red dead redemption 2 and god of war and uncharted 4 it get the fan noise, my question is if i replace the thermal pads because i didn't will i get a change?

aAt the top left of the heat sink there are 3 holes. From memory, the 2 prongs fit in the putter holes so a screw can go through the centre

I wanted to know is it safe to put big thermal pad on the v ram like you did or should it be a small pad like the original that's on the v Ram. It gets me thinking is the original small for a reason 🤔 from technology point what do you 🤔

As you can see i've put a bigger thermal pads, the old ones weren't even covering the whole v ram chip. I don't think a bigger piece will do any harm

The cable for my power supply won't budge , it looks different to yours slightly. I'm afraid to tug hard on it. Can I still do this paste service with the cable in the power supply?

You have to remove the power cable brother and power supply, brother. You can use a set of plastic pliers are a simple prying too. Don't go too hard on it, though

The APU works around 79c and 95c it is pretty hot.

Try reconnecting the controller. It also might be an interference issue.

It looks like you damaged the cable that goes from the motherboard to the disc drive. You can buy a new one from amazon for like 10-15$
