lol, I am very proud of you for not going on a raging rant about the single solder joint. The silent smirk made me laugh. You were very professional. Two thumbs up. Thanks for the video. I am having issues with new solder equipment. I get similar results as what came into your shop. I am new at micro soldering as a hobby and am practicing on scrap boards. You make it look so easy when you get solder on the tip of iron and roll the glob over the pads. You mentioned when the tip is bad, the solder won't stick to the tip and runs away from the tip. I thought it was because the iron was too hot. I have barely used any of these tips and now wondering if I ruined them by getting them too hot... I am going to keep practicing.

A nice repair. I was wondering for a while if the board was going to work because of its other issues. For certain boards I'm wondering if it would be helpful to have a picture of a "known good" board for reference purposes. That way you could refer to the picture if you suspect that a component is missing on a board that you are working on. Thanks for the video.

That's what happened to me when i first started soldering, i used a cheap flux with a big conical tip soldering iron and the result was always a bridge like this one :) So a good flux and the right tip size play a big difference when doing micro soldering

@@raidone7413 Truuuue... But common sense would be realizing they don't know what they're doing. Or just look at the ports or something with pins around that one to see what they're supposed to look like. Realistically we'll never know why, I thought it was funny. I still sighed deeply though but still funny.

Nice work. I find that using too much flux on these though is problematic as the residue often seeps back into the inside of the port causing the hdmi signal to not be recognized again. Cleaning it with alcohol just dilutes it and make sit seep into the port faster. I use less flux now and wipe what's left off with a dry q-tip. Works well!

Question for you, I bought a iPhone XS Max from a friends for $40 that had the back glass and front screen broken. I repaired it to give me something new to do but I tested the camera and it looks foggy. I tried cleaning it and blowing compressed air into camera lens and cleaning the glass lens as well. Any advise?

Although my soldering skills are better then the person who attempted to repair that board initially, I myself have totally ruined a PS4 board doing a bad HDMI repair. Unfortunately I wasn't aware of "low melt" solder and watched other KZbinr repairers (guessing also not aware of low melt solder?) putting the board in an oven for a brief amount of time to heat the board up. Also confusing messages from other repairers saying that "heat" destroys boards so low heat and build up the temperature... Well - on the 3rd attempt of trying to align the HDMI connecter and basically getting it right on that attempt - unfortunately the pads started to lift and many got destroyed. Its currently sat under my desk waiting for me to either throw the PS4 away, or build up courage to try again and attempt to fix the missing traces. I have also messed up an XBox One HDMI re-timer chip which I tried to repair around the same time so many of the same bad techniques were used. Never had experience with a QFN chip before and it threw me a curve ball... trying to align that up again on a heat sulking ground plate board was a nightmare. Again, oven came into use - but proved useless. Many tracks for the re-timer chip lifted. I've learnt my lesson - no oven, and low melt solder, & high heat (short amount of time).
