PS5 How to Fix Stuck in Safe Mode Error | Only Option 7 Available (2022)

UPDATE: Since posting this video I have been trying to figure out what causes this error. I'm hearing it might be caused by a power surge or outage during a system update causing some corruption of the software. It also seems to be the case that this error is showing up more frequently on PS5s that are always left in Rest Mode instead of being shut down completely. I would suggest always shutting your PS5 down completely when not in use.

You may want to get more air movement behind the ps5 as well if it is too hot it can power/heat spike too.

Hey this just happened to me and it was because I was updating dead by daylight then it said that there was an error and that I can’t install it so I tried restarting my ps5 then it said repairing ps5 and then I got stuck on option seven I’m going to try what u did in the video in a moment

So this must be a common issue. Pretty upset with Sony. I shouldn't have to spend an evening after work researching, troubleshooting and repairing faulty software. I don't even use rest mode. Not to mention I'm going to have to re-download all of my games and I'm losing all the progress I made in said games because I don't pay extra to backup on the cloud. My Nintendo from 1988 still works fine.

@@BeReTyy for games like NHL with career modes I lost my saved files, but with games like Fortnite with accounts you sign into, I lost nothing. On Batman Arkham Knight my save file was still there. Didn’t lose anything on Rainbow Six Siege either, but my cosmetics were unequipped. Only issue is redownloading all your games/apps, and re signing into streaming apps.

@@slim8751 I’m pretty sure this worked out fine and I didn’t lose my progress from it, but not long after this, my PlayStation had some type of hiccup and I had to factory reset it. I lost every single clip/screenshot, and I lost certain save files (NBA2K mycareer for example). I can’t guarantee you anything, but just prepare for anything. You should be fine tho, I’m pretty sure my factory reset was like a month later and unrelated

for people that are worried about save data. As long as you have ps plus your data will auto save so all you have to do is factory reset and then after download the game and your all good😊. hope this helps!

But this one was unexpected, so when it came back on it booted me into safe mode. Ive learnt that i should just leave my ps5 off when i dont use it.

i loaded into my ps5 last night all buzzed up and ready to go and i got this error message. it was doing an update and i was looking away and next thing i know i have this error. i was too drunk to figure it out at the time but a day later i watch this video and it has helped. its just crazy to me that this can happen randomly at any moment. and that i have to resort to a youtube video to describe why its happening and what to do about it. i hope this next generation of games is worth it. so far tbh cod, and thus far the ps5 with the error reset, has been an absolute joke. like there are certain things that just CANNOT HAPPEN.. and cod vanguard was the first joke but this random factory reset...on a random day... is just absurd to me. a person. should be able to login to the service they are PAYING FOR and be able to play. 100% of the time. not 90% not 99%... a full on raging 100%.

If it asks you to update do not put it in rest mode just let it update and watch it updating while in rest mode has a bug.

If you are subscribed to Playstation plus you should have your saves automatically saved to the cloud and be able to download after reset

Today this happens to me while I was playing helldivers 2. The only option that I have is Reset PS5 (Reinstall System Software) ik if i do this im going to loose everything. Here’s some advice upload as much data as you can to the ps cloud if you have ps plus so in case of corruption or reset your data is in the cloud and can be re download and for me has came in clutch I had a Similar thing happen to me and I lost some data but I got it back via PlayStation cloud

Ya my nephews is doing the same and I have gotten it up with putting the update files on a flash drive a couple times some times you can go to update and download from internet which doesn't take a flash drive but sometimes it takes a initializing which resets it all that pretty much works but it keeps coming back to an error updating

Ok so, I was using remote play on my Playstation playing with my phone, then it disconnects and my ps5 is showing it being stuck on safe mode. Mine went to safe mode when I tried to update the software. It said "corrupt". I tried doing the software update 4 x's but kept saying corrupt. Then on the 5h try it finally updated. I didn't have to do anything else.
